Willy's RC8T

My first 1/8 scale, nearly complete! Tires and wet noodles will be here tomorrow, just need a hold down for the MMM and a battery (5s 5000 is my target battery). My goal is to have it finished in a week from now so I can be racing next weekend:yipi:

It looks really nice and clean.

rootar 04.10.2009 11:06 PM

Looks great! you know this will be the second "replica" of my truck at our track and i understand there will be another one built before too long, (thatd be 4 rcm rc8ts!!!) looks awesome, try and set the slipperential to 1.4mm and i hope you roughed the pads. What tires are you gonna run? we wont be at wolfpack on the 18th but plan for alisons on the 19th and bring that truggy, josh has got a spare 5s 5000 im sure he'd let you run since he doesnt have a motor in his truggy...

btw itll be worth the wait for mikes lipos....be paitent, dont rush it, make it exactly like you want it the first time. and im totally jealous of the telemetry setup.... ill get mine before too much longer.

Snipin_Willy 04.10.2009 11:33 PM

Hey if Josh has got an extra battery to loan out for the day I'll be happy to change my race day to Sunday that weekend. Though Alison's track wasn't as nice as Wolfpack, I'm up for a change. As for tires, I ordered some cityblocks from GShobby, they should be here tomorrow.

What does everyone do for wheel/tire balancing?

Do you think you can fashion another one of those MMM hold-downs? I don't have access to a press.

masense 04.11.2009 09:59 AM

nice car!
Will you teach your center diff?

rootar 04.11.2009 04:38 PM

masense; what does teach your center diff mean?

william: how bout i give you the one off my truck and ill make me a new one with and intergrated switch mount and see how that turns out, ive also got to make a front shock tower for kayli's xray. as for the lipo ill ask josh i bet he wouldnt have a problem letting you use it for the day, i also got aka (soft) cityblocks this week from brad so i hope they work decent at alison's, they redid the track at alisons and i know the faciltys arent as nice but its the first round of the arcorr electric series and i know there will be a BUNCH of people out there and we should have a good 1/8 electric class turn out i would think. It should be a nice pleasent shady day of racing with out the nitro noise for a change and itll be good to check out the track this year.

ive been messing with this factory team t4 all day trying to get it ready to take a stab at expert 2wd mod truck class, ( i hear there will be over 20 entries!!!) this sensored LRP 10.5 system just seems soooo tame to me but on the track it should be perfect in the 2wd.

Snipin_Willy 04.11.2009 04:56 PM

An integrated switch mount? I wanna see!

It seems like last there there wasn't hardly and 2wd truck class, or the year before for that matter. Maybe the horrible econ has people going back to the cheaper trucks to run and maintain!

rootar 04.11.2009 10:09 PM

2wd mod truck is a true drivers class, its hard to be fast, but if you can get it down 4wd anything is a piece of cake, but it could be the economy reason too.... i know have less than $300 in my factory team t4, with lrp 10.5 bruhless system, airtronics 94360 servo, nue 2s hardcase 5000 lipo, full rpm front end, bumper, and gear cover, and 3 sets of tires and wheels........just one of those things where someone was having to unload some r/c stuff to pay the bills or desperate to get something new.

you need to find some servo tray post or metric threaded tubing we can cut to lengths to mount the plate on your truck with.

Snipin_Willy 04.13.2009 11:44 PM

It is complete! Only needs a battery.
I have some King Headz braces coming in the mail, but those are an upgrade.

rootar 04.14.2009 11:17 PM

hey there is a trick to installing the rear kingheadz brace.....it will fail if you dont do this little mod to rear diff case..... ill show you at the race! it only takes a minutes and ill have my dremel and endmill to do it.

Snipin_Willy 04.29.2009 11:28 PM

As some of you know my first MMM lit up like a gasoline covered candle last weekend (right before a race day) after about 5 minutes of use. It has been sent back to CC and it should be on its way back very shortly.
Today, I received my replacement MMM in the mail so I can have a back up to my first MMM. Got back down to the park and did a very close look over my electronics, my wire placement, solder joints, tightened screws....And it ran fine for the whole 15 min I was there testing. I was using the same battery pack that had lit up my first MMM due to a PCB short. I was a bit worried about running that battery it didn't show an signs of damage.
Started to rain so I had to quit. I wasn't jamming the throttle or brake, but it seemed to work as expected without the fireworks, thankfully. If it drys up some I might have a chance to play some more tomarrow.
I hope the rain goes away for saturday, I wanna race my monster.

rootar 04.29.2009 11:53 PM

take it easy on that thing till saturday!!! we need you in the class, btw do you have a good temp gun? my temp sensor on the dx3s was going way out of being accurate after 130 degrees......it was saying 190 at the end of the quals at alison's yet it was really only 155-160....i think im gonna take the nitro sensor off and try the electric sensor to see if maybe its more accurate.

Snipin_Willy 04.30.2009 07:20 AM

Temp gun I have. I'm hoping for a nice dry day with minimal humidity.

Snipin_Willy 07.25.2009 10:21 PM

Today was not my day of good fortune. Started out with it being hot and humid. Forgot my transmitter and had to barrow one. Did terrible in the 7 min heats. And to top it off, broke a rear hub carrier before the main and didn't have a spare. I should have stayed home today and worked on my crt.5 by replacing the diff cases because they have stipped out screws holding them to the chassis. :'(

rootar 07.26.2009 01:23 AM

dont sweat it william sometimes you have an off day... i just got some m2c rear hubs in and they look great, and are well priced also... id look into them, also mark it on your calender that we have a race at wolfpack august 15th is our track series final race the electric 1/8th scale class will be huge! you need to trip down and you more than welcome to pit with us! hope you can make it down.
