Battery and charger choice for XL-5
I am ordering 2 new waterproof XL-5 rustlers for my sons, these new types have metal gears en are brushles ready.
so when they want to upgrade to brushles they have to buy new (lipo) battery's unless these normal motors can handle lipo's i won't buy these normal batt's that would be great begause i dont have to buy two different chargers, so what do you think? ........ And how long do these batt's lasts before the have to charge them again? And what is the life span of these two? ........ Thanks for you help. |

I assume you will be running 6-7 cells NiMH for now? And you plan to upgrade to 2s lipo? If so, then yes, it will work with the XL-5. The only problem is that the XL5 doesn't have an LVC to stop running when they get too low.
Runtime depends a lot on gearing, weight, terrain, drivestyle, etc. Brushless is more efficient, but people tend to gear up or drive harder because of the extra power. But, if you gear to get the same speed as you had with brushed motors, and everything else remains constant (like drivestyle, terrain, etc), then runtime will increase. By how much is hard to say. |
ok thanks
