FLM trans forward conversion worth the money?

I can't make up my mind on what to do with my savage. I have been looking real hard at the Flm conversion but I am tring to get more input on it.It looks like a nice conversion, and I like how the battery sit inside the frame, but I would have to be careful to make sure the batts I buy would fit in there. For the guys that have the conversion are you happy with it?
Thanks

Hi, the only problem I've found is that most of 6S Lipo pack doesn't easily (if not at all) fit inside the chassis (the main problem for fitting is the ESC mount, that reduce the available space). At moment the only pack I can fit is that made of two 3S Lipo Zippy 3.500 Mah.

Despite this problem (not a big one, because I'm totaly satisfied using 5S Lipo - my motor are Neu 1515 2.200 rmp/volts and Medusa 80-2000), I found the FLM chassis extremely well done and having the weight moved in front is a real advantage while driving (no insane wheelie every time I give full throttle...)

Bye.

the wheelies keep it exiting!

I think the rearward placing of the lipo puts too much weight in the back of the truck. I would prefer the tranny at the back, and the lipo in the front...

There is something thrilling about not being able to go full throttle :yipi:

For a rear tranny chassis, check out the new Flux Desertboy from GCM Racing.

That is a tranny/motor forward chassis. It flips the motor and tranny around, and puts the motor next to the steering servo. The battery tray is in the back, but unlike the flm setup it has the entire width of the tvp to use for battery mounting. I will say this must be better balanced than the flm, but I would rather have the lipo in the front and the motor in the back. Given the amount of the wheelbase stretch, they should have a very large battery area to work with.

My version of the chassis (see stretched tvp thread) will have enough room to get a 160mm x 45mm pack in front of the tranny. The battery height will be a bit high, as the battery tray will also tie the top of the bellcrank posts together and serve as the servo mount. But MTs have higher cg anyway, and my truck is meant to be a basher. With a 15" wheelbase it should be plenty stable.

Look at all of the newer nitro truggies, they all have stretched chassis, and try to move the weight of the components forward to help steering on power, and jumping ability. Most of them just have open areas between the back of the nitro motor and the rear bulkheads...

Shoot, you're right. The thing is bassackwards. Some good aftermarket stuff showing up. I just wish some new battery boxes would come out.

It fooled me too the first time I looked at it. Then I saw the steering tierods, and had a close look at the pics with the motor, you can see the steering servo next to it... Not a bad design, I just want me lipo in the front, and the tvps will be really easy to make.
