what's up with the GorillaMaxx stuff?

it seems like the G-4 GorillaMaxx has been out of stock for a LONG time now...anyone know what's up and when they're gonna be back?

Metallover 04.12.2009 10:41 PM

There's poachers out there... Stop them and they'll come back in stock...

I am wondering as well, They seem to be on vacation or just quit. I hope they haven't just quit, they got to do a Mini G2R and i may need some new X-braces, I hope not but mine are slightly bent

Arct1k 04.15.2009 12:51 PM

I picked up a pair of x-braces recently from their last stock - they are not being made any more...

Mike mentioned he had a few spare in stock - be quick... as when they are gone it could be all over!

feistyacorn 04.15.2009 02:04 PM

All gone!?! No More!?! That sucks! I feel like I just wasted a load of money on my truck. I should have just done a truggy conversion.

DwightSchrute 04.15.2009 02:09 PM

so there's not going to be any more GorillaMaxx stuff?! AWWWW CRAP!! this freakin blows!!! thatwas my favorite truck!

crazyjr 04.15.2009 06:09 PM

sooooo, Gorillamaxx is no more? That does suck, I guess it is time to put the chassis on my archives and build a E-revo. Its really a shame, its the absolute best racing chassis i ever seen.

I hope Gmaxx hasn't folded up, but if they did (got an Email to mike asking if he knows anything), I'll store mine till i can get around to replicating it (for myself of course). I am planning to go back to school and learn CAD design sometime this year.

may be time to look for a good E-revo chassis, tranny, bulks and bolt kit

After reading this im afraid to break anything.

_paralyzed_ 04.23.2009 01:52 AM

go to the source. I'll e-mail g-maxx and post what they have to say here.

edit: sent this

To whom it may concern-

I'm an avid r/c enthusiast and surf many forums. There is talk that gorillamaxx has ceased production and will no longer make parts. Is this true? Specifically, I'm looking for x-braces for a g2, and others wish to purchase the g4 chassis. I appreciate any information you can give me, thank you. -Harold Baumann

I talked to Mike at RCX. He said everything has been discontinued save for the G4 and one other thing.

Think about it. The big draw of the E-Revo chassis was for people who wanted an E-Revo. After the factory E-Revo came out, there's almost no point. Especially since the new one has a robust transmission. The 3906 E-Maxx tranny you had to use with the E-Revo had so many small issues that required a bunch of mods to get around (new slipper, replacing that stupid pin on the input shaft that always breaks, steel idler, etc).

It is because of that that sales really fell off.

With all due respect, those of us that have this chassis know its the better chassis for racing. Even the stock chassis is not as low or setup better, They can't expect us to turn to the lead sled kershaw chassis. No offense, but that chassis looks clunky and bulky compared to the gorilla. I guess mine will sit in the mothballs till i can learn cad (hopefully this year or next) and can make my own parts

feistyacorn 04.23.2009 11:31 AM

Gorillamaxx needs to stick around. They should make a chassis with Mike that will allow you to use the slipper diff. I know that Mike is working on center diff adaptor, but an x-brace chassis made for a center diff would be awesome!

straight outta the horses mouth:

Hello Harold,

We are still producing parts, however, we have stopped producing chassis kits for for the old E-maxx, our G3 and the Nitro Revo E conversion, our G3R.
We are still producing the transmission parts, the mount and single speed. We are also still producing the G4. We just had delays from our machine shop.

Thanks for the email.
George

Ok, but its too bad they are not producing the X-braces. I guess we'll have to make this stuff ourselves. Its too bad they won't at least make an adapter dedicated to the Gmaxx for the 3095 transmission

I'm not totally against progression, I want a G4 and the Gmaxx suspension for a future Emaxx buildup. we need the G2/3R for those who want the ultimate in racing setups

suicideneil 04.23.2009 10:04 PM

The X-braces are the only real weak point on the G2/G3 design, so replacing them with a home-brew item wouldnt be that hard really, sort of thing you could do with a basic vertical mill and sliding table- look at what DeltaMaxx created.

I would be happy with a couple slabs of 5mm thick 6061 with holes in the right places to mount the skids, upper and lower plates and tranny- reduce the size of the gap under the tranny so it is less of a weak point. Truth be told, Im thinking of getting the Candyman to do just that, only with a ~2" extension towards the rear; must learn some basic CAD skills and I'll throw up a picture or two...
