Controller Mount Idea

Is this a bad idea? It is just a prototype, but I think it would work. I was thinking of modding a cpu heatsink and mounting it a little lower.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Rusty

If its mounted like i think it is (screwed to the mounting holes of second motor mount) then its a perfectly fine idea many people mount there controllers that way

Yep, that is what it is. Being new to RC, I haven't seen it done.

Thanks for the reply.

I've done that, used a metal plate then just zipped tied it on. Where 2nd motor would go.

Sits too high though.

Yeah, i'd make it so it still mount's there, but let's the esc sit lower. Also be sure to have enough padding on the back of the esc.

be careful with those rpm arms and the cvds. i have heard of people getting in a bad crash and the arms bending like there supposed to but when they bent the cvd came out and did some damage.

I might mount it on the lower/bottom side. RC Solutions make a metal tray I may end up with.

Thanks for the reply!

What do you use for padding?

Thanks.

Squee,

i've bend 2 ue cvd's by running rpm arm's. They bend due to tight cornering at full speed(permax 600's motor's) no crash or jumping involded. pb depth was normal.

Rusty,

Normal foam will do. Stick enough under it.

Serum 01.14.2006 04:57 AM

Yeah, you really need some foam, otherwise some of the small SMD parts will fall off/get loose some day.

bigabike 01.16.2006 03:39 AM

Thanks guys!

Working on it now.

You can buy small rolls of foam celetape type stuff, thats what I use. Just stick it on your mount and ESC.
