Lipo issue: Polyquest 30c 2s pack
Pack: Polyquest 2s 30c 5000mah maybe 20 cycles on it.
Charger: Hyperion net Problem: The performance on it sucks in comparison to my SPC 15c pack. Now I would think this pack would be at least the same, hopefully more than the SPC being it is double the "c" rating. However it is not. Findings: Cells are very close after a discharge, always within hundreths of a volt. This is the weird part. When charging it will charge at 5 amps, then around 95% of the charge it will drop way off and take quite some time to finish. When the charger beeps that it is done the percentage will read usually 97%. It then will rise to 100% within a couple minutes of the charge ending. Pack is always nice and cool. I am stumped. This is the same pack that my buddy cannot run on his VXL setup. It will basically run at about 25% power on his setup. Almost like when it starts to dye off right before LVC. On my Rustler the performance is comparable to a stick pack...... Any ideas? Frustrating to say the least... This has been going on since I got it rewired. I charged it today at 2c which manufacture specifies can be done. I usually charge it at 1c but thought this may help out. |

That is the one I put new wires one, right? Kinda weird, Nothing looked wrong with it when I pulled it apart. Have you given the connector a good yank to make sure the soldering is good? (I use a very potent iron, but no one is perfect, right!). Do not yank on the wires as they go into the pack, not much strain relief there, Does the connector get hot when you run it? It was a traxxas connector, IIRC. May be dirty.

i have a polyquest 4s 5000 pack that is like that, until it gets warm, all the cells are in balance never gets hot, but the punch sucks if its not right off the charger

i noticed that in very cold weather my polyquest packs (2s 5000mAH 30c hardcases) did not perform well at all, once i started warming them up before use they were flawless and had plenty of power. not sure if this is the cause of your packs lack of performance, but it was for mine.

I found the same thing with the 30c packs. They do not like to be cold, at all. 100f seems to be a good operating temp... My 4500 6s pack gets over 130f in the lst, but does not puff and charges fine after it cools.
