MM esc ?external BEC necessary w/ a 2s config?

Just saw some random blurbs about how you should use a external BEC w/ the MM esc on a 3s lipo config... does this also hold true for a 2s config? I will be running a medusa 36x50mm 4800kv motor in my new Ofna Hyper STe and was planning on just using the internal BEC. Again I will only be running 2s lipo.

Thanks!

Is the Hyper STe the same size as the crt.5? If it is, you don't need a bec on 2s
In my daughter's crt.5 and a 3300kv 50 series Medusa w/a mm esc on 2s there is no bec

On my crt.5 w/3s and a 3300kv motor mm esc, I do run a cc bec

On 2s? No benefit. Actually, a linear BEC would probably work better on 2s than a switching one. UBECs tend to have a higher loaded dropout voltage (the voltage amount difference between the supply and output).

But, if you plan on using 3s or more, it is a necessity.

Great.. I had it wired up for 4s operation in my 8ight buggy, then when I started prepping my parts for this hyper mini I pulled the cc bec off as well as the fan thinking a 2s system wouldn't need it... Glad to hear I was right, as I didn't want to have to resolder and shrink everything :)

Thanks for the quick posts..
