Robitronics Mantis or Muggy?
Anyone hear of this truggy? I read an article and it looks solid, wondering about a conversion.
And then I see a few Muggys on ebay for pretty good prices...Any thoughts on either? |
I'd go all out on a truggy (definitely not the Mantis) or just get the Muggy. I like the Muggys personally, but I don't know if I would take that over something like a D8T.

I chose the Mantis because Robitronics Headquarter is a 5 minute drive from my place. Spare parts are no problem thus.
There is no motor mount availabe for this truggy, so will have to come up with something on your own. Or use the multipurpose motor mount from tecno. There sure are better truggys then the mantis from a quality point of view: Mugen Mbx5t, losi eight-T ... Here is my conversion. A muggy is a heavier vehicle then a a classic truggy and will need a bigger motor, better batteries to get it moving like a truggy. The muggy features higher quality parts then the mantis. |
For the Mantis a Jammin X1CR buggy center diff assembly bolts right up to it. From there you could use one of Mike's CR mounts.
Personally I think the Mantis is a great truggy. It can really take hits but still perform like a champ. Have fun converting yours! |
whats bigger a mantis or muggy? I want Monster Truck for bashing. Pede u say the Mantis will take the punishment what about the Muggy?
|
look like the Mantis has about 46mm gc, does the muggy have a better gc?

The Muggy is a great basher aswell and comes standard with 25mm diameter shocks....
I don't know anything about the Mantis. But I do know reading from others on this forum that the Muggy/LST drivetrain is one of the toughest and will take any powersystem you throw at it. My Muggy will soon have a NEU 1521. It is a heavy truck so you'll probably need more power than the Mantis for the same speeds. |
ya, now Im lookin at the mbx5t or muggy...
|
Othello, your Mantis was lookin pretty cool! You still got it? I'd probably try a Mantis if i could find a used one on ebay but I cannot...Anyone think I should set my sights on the mbx5t over the Muggy? It's not as big (heavy) and I'm not sure how the MMM2200kv would be able to propell the Muggy versus the Mbx5t...and what's more durable, the mbx5t or the x1 crt?
|
Still got it. But at the moment i prefer running my Robitronic buggy. The mbx5t is a sweet truggy. A buddy of mine has converted his mbx5t. Good handling and quality parts.
The X1 crt is one of the most durable truggys but not the lightest one. |
I see lots of spur issues with the X1 also...cant decide between the muggy and mbx5t.
