I have asked this before... No luck so far.

You currently have 2 options that i know of (and a third that may not work for you.)

1. Get a colleted pinion adapter from td racing, it accepts the lst second gear screw-on pinions (and mike's 2 speed screw on pinions), it is pricey, but allows a large range (20-30t) of pinions, and is very well made.

2. Go to sdp-si, look in the metric steel spur section and geat one of their limited sizes. I have the 18 and 20t pinions and they are wel made, but not hardened, so plastic spurs only.

3. have Mike bore out one of his 2 speed adapters to 6mm bore (he did it for me) and use lst or Mike's screw on pinions. This may not work if you use it in reverse, as the pinion may unscrew.

And if all that fails, take the endbell off and have your local machinist turn it down to 5mm.

Like the pimp master said go to https://sdp-si.com/eStore/ go to metric then gears then spur gears. On the right hand screen drop down the bore size box and choose 6MM then drop down the Module box and choose 1. Go to the hub style and choose the one with set screw and it will give good carbon steel options of 12T (A 1C 8MYK10012), 14T (A 1C 8MYK10014), 15T (A 1C 8MYK10015), 18T (A 1C 8MYK10018) and 20T (A 1C 8MYK10020H).

I know this is a really old thread but I just ended up with a 1717 with a 6MM shaft. I found this thread while searching for 6MM shaft MOD1 pinions.

I actually found some pinions the right size and am wondering if anyone has any experience with these in an RC car used with a metal spur gear. I want to use it in a Losi 8ight-T.

A-Main has the KDE Direct pinions. One example: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...inion-Gear-15T

Hobby King USA has some hardened 6MM shaft pinions too. One example from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RC-Hard-One-...item3a848f6001

Anyone have any experience with these?

They are good if you keep it under 30K rpm.

a good quality motor like leopard lbp4065 have more power, spend much lower energy and the temperatures are lower than a kb45 ........... 300gr vs 550gr ..........
