Anyone know that song from Queen?

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust

First time out trying my RC8T. It let me get a few minutes of joy in before it decided to set me back. I'm not so broken up about the ESC, I know I'll it replaced but I really hope this didn't cost me a brand new Lipo :grrrrrr:. Internal short was enough to melt the solder on the deans on the battery and get the wires hot enough to partially melt the shrink wrap around the cells.

I might find myself buying an extra MMM for this sorta thing. Maybe my next one will make it a race day without issue.

And what everyone wants to see: Pictures, rest in peace MMM

I know all about it,I feel your pain.

magman 04.24.2009 07:56 PM

ouch! Was that a new v3?

Snipin_Willy 04.24.2009 08:03 PM

Yes, new V3.

On a more positive note the ESC was VERY smooth at low speeds. And Mike's slipperential really does make the truck run quieter, you don't even know it's a metal spur.

I have seen more than a few v3 failures lately....I am seriously thinking about buying the new RX8 instead of the mmm

I'll get another MMM and have this one repaired(???Replaced???), but if I get another failure under easy running on flat surfaces I might swing to Tekin as well.

... I was thinking "Fat Bottom Girls". Wrong again.

On topic, if you call Castle and talk to Cristy (sp?) in the repair department and explain what happened, you might be able to get a new one sent to you while you ship them the damaged one. They might take a CC number as security.

Boy, wouldn't that be nice. I still need another one for a race I have on Sunday, so I hope the hobby shop that's about 120miles away has them in stock.

Another good note, it looks like my Lipo only had a near death experience and might even make a full recovery. The battery charger sees each cell still in balance and the internal resistance of each cell seems to be close to the first readings I looked at when it was being charged the first time. Keeping fingers crossed

Castle did that to me on two busted Mamba Maxes, so give them a call Monday and you should have a new Monster before the weekend.

I wonder if there is some kind of fuse that can be made that goes between the battery and esc to help shorts and battery damage from failures like this? Something like a 250a fust should work for big batteries...

Snipin_Willy 04.25.2009 12:23 AM

Comp sub systems can draw that much power, but I don't think I wanna use AG or AU fuzes (just bulky)
