xray t2

hi guys, a guy i was talking to said hes into electric onroad cars and he races and runs a brushed motor, 12t v2 or something. Anyway he is getting a new car, a xray t2 and he said he doesnt wanna go brushless but i was wondering what would be a good brushless setup for the car and what would the performance be like? Maybe i can change his mind about brushless :D lol

Dont think that much power mixed with belts would be a good idea

Basketti 01.17.2006 02:19 AM

Oh they run on belts? guess its not a good idea then. but how much faster would it be?

gixxer 01.17.2006 03:38 AM

since he races, he is limited to 6 cells. I would just go with the newer novak systems then. A 6.5 is close to a 10 turn and the 5.5 is suppose to be a 8 turn.

Yep, a novak velociti or a reedy neo one are the best to go for brushless.
Here you can see some pics and info about the XRay T2:

Xray makes some of the best touring cars on the market. Some of the Xray team drivers race at my local track, so I get to hear about them all the time :)
Just about all of the touring car drivers at the track run an Xray fk04 or fk05. I know at least 3 of them already have the T2, but are waiting for parts availability before they start racing.

The Xray fk04 and fk05 hold up to modified brushed motors just fine, so I'm sure they're up to the challenge of just about any brushless on 6 cells. I would expect no less from the T2.

some of those cars run 6 turn brushed motors so a BL system wouldn't be much of a stretch

captain harlock 01.17.2006 03:13 PM

They're(T2) a real bullet proof for sure, but the sensored motors like the reedy and novak are the best to use in racing, that's my opinion.

You can adjust both belts for tension with the eccentric bushings and the belts themselves are more than up to the job.X-ray ball diffs are the nicest i've ever built, they're silky smooth.

captain harlock 01.17.2006 06:15 PM

Not to mention that if you put in some ceramic balls in the diffs it will be like build them and forget them.

I have the xray t1(original) and I love it. I cant imagine how they manage to make it better.

I am not sure of how well it would fit, but I am using a Lehner Basic 5300 with the MGM (120 amp) controller in a BMI TC4. Whether I am running a 7.4v LiPo for racing or my 9 cell GP2200 pack for all out speed, the setup works fantastic!
