Making battery packs

I have some 7 cell packs i bought of ebay a while ago and i want to make them side by side packs. i have the battery bars to do it. At the moment they are stick packs with the 7th cell ontop so you can fit it in a stock maxx, but now i have the flm chassis i want to make them side by side. Do i need shrink wrap? or can i just glue them together side by side without the shrink wrap? and what glue should i use? Thanks :)

Good question. I would like to know this as well.

I used hot glue but it don't last when batteries get hot. I have never tried ca glue but read that you can use it. I like to shrink wrap the batteries my self. It helps protect them better.

ca glue works well. i would shrink each individual cell, and the the whole pack to.

EDIT: my new ib 4200 cells came individually pre shrinked FYI

1) If you don't use shrink wrap there is a high chance (esp. on an aluminium chassis) that the batteries might short.#
2)I believe most people use shoe glue to stick cells together. Think CA might be a big fiddly, plus you want a glue that quite big (volume wise) so it gets a good grip on the cells.

Use shoe goo, not CA, not hot glue, it works great and holds up pretty good too.

I use a Deans Speed Jig to build my packs, it's the best jig out there and is fairly inexpensive too. Just goop the shoe goo on one side of the cell, and line them up in the jig. Once you're done soldering the bars on, they'll be held together tight enough to let the shoe goo dry in that position.

I use zap-a-dap adhesive(similar to shoo-goo)

guess i will get some shrink wrap and shoe glue then. wheres a good place to buy some? can you get it at the local hardware store?

I've never had to use shrink wrap around the cells I've made my packs from, but most of them have been from stick packs. Shrink wrap can be found at hobby stores, so can the shoe goo (you could also get it at a sporting goods store in the shoe section).
