hey guys i spoke with tekin and they said the software update will be up on the factory web site shortly, this will let us use the hotwire with the rx8. :intello:

A version of the Hotwire is already available that works with the Rx8. We are putting out a new version of the hotwire that has new software versions for all the speedos including B1, Fx, R1, RS and Rx8. Minor updates and features like increasing the custom voltage cutoff max to 21V for the Rx8 and 65s lipo.

Well that's pretty fast, we just had that discussion with your guys on another forum a few days ago asking why the custom cut off did not go to 21V and now it does. Very well done. I have not even turned the Tekin on yet and I'm already liking you guys more.

any chance of a sensored only mode+timing boost for the rx8?? some of use will be useing it in some smaller trucks too...(slash+10.5)

65s (240v)? Would make a decent EV ESC...

The beauty of having complete control of the products, being able to listen and react instead of waiting to integrate it in on the next container load.

Yes we have 350C lipos also. Actually if we release ours we have to call it a 46C since I just got 45C offered to me in the spam emails... for cheap:lol:

Whitrzak - it is already there. We just did not give you access to it... yet. We do expect people to use it in 1/10 mod applications and other extreme setups so the motor is all that limits them, but those motors are all best with dual mode anyway. We do not really expect the Rx8 to be used with high turn motors that work better with sensored only and boost, but it is there if we need it.

I don't need it(Timing boost), but it does help with the 10.5 in my slash...

When is this going to happen? And when will it actually get posted on Tekins hot-wire download page? This getting secret e-mailed versions is a very silly business model. Will the revision date be posted? The one currently on the Tekin website has a revion date of 5/7/08. Im impressed with the performance of the system but not at all with the distribution of the software.

go ahead and download it is there i have done mine works great, ran at the track this past weekend with the rx8 combo in my truggy,what and great set-up.:intello:

I agree and we do intend to post the software and make it more accessible. We typically make our team drivers suffer thru any mistakes and find them. Creeping elegance is the real problem. We are always adding something and it needs more testing before we give it out to everyone.

Case in point we finally posted a new version for everyone that had some minor tweaks from a previous solid version without giving it a few weeks to shake out bugs and guess what, we have to replace it.:oops:

Eventually it is all suppose to be automatic and check for updates. Currently it does for speedo software updates, but most also require a Hotwire program update which we like to do from a .zip file.

Regardless we will post the versions and explain them a lot better on the website.

TEKIN PREZ: So can I down load what is on your site NOW to get a custom cutoff above 18.0V or do I have to send out 4 e-mails & hope one of your guys sends me a version that does??? Or does it exsist?? Your standard cutoff of 3.0 volts per cell is WAY to low. You guys said for weeks stuff was shipping but no one got anything until last week. Now we have the hardware & can't get software. I don't like stopping every other lap to check my stop watch to see if I'm running my battery to long. Sorry if it sounds like I'm getting mad but it's because I am.

SuperDave: Were you able to set the custom cutoff above 18V with the version you got from Tekins site?

We will put the new version ( with the RS bug for the 1S checkbox) back on the web as BETA version today. Please come back and get the new version next week.

i hope i haven't got this confusing i have been taking about the hotwire software update for the rx8. which my hotwire now works for my rx8.
