Charger Recomendation
Ive got a friend of mine that is looking ot go brushless and is looking for a good balancing charger that can charge a 4s 5000mah lipo at the full 5amp rate. He's not looking to drop a bundle so low cost is pretty key. Got a pretty tight budget on his first conversion. It doesnt need alot of bells and whisltes, just a balancing charger than can do more than 50watts which is mostly what he has been finding. At only 50watts it can only charge at 3.4amps on a 4s pack and thats not fast enough. He will be starting out with only one pack so he needs to be able to recharge pretty quick between race heats.
Can somone help out with some recomendations. I havent been charger shoping in a long time so I'm not really to up on whats out there now thats good yet not to expensive. Oh yea... one more thing. It has to be orderable thru the LHS. He's got no credit card and no paypal so no on line ordering. He's a cash buyer. LOL. Gotta be carried by horizon or great planes or one of the other big distributors so the LHS can order it for him. Thanks for the help guys. |
i have some experience in this field, i have a triton 2 lipo charger from electrify, good price about 120$, this charger that i have can charge up to 7amps, more than enough to get you going. or if you want to go more modern and top quality and want to charge two batteries at the same time then good with hyperion duo charger, it is more expensive like 296$ on amainhobbies.com. but there is less waiting involved.

I'd say get the Hyperion 720i. I know its $200 but its worth it!! Make sure you have a good enough power supply as well.

He is looking for something a little closer to the $100 mark than the $200 mark. Finding a really nice charger for $200 is easy. Its finding something decent for less thats the challenge at the moment.
If he was willing to spend $200 I'd tell him to get the FMA Cellpro 10s. I have had that for a good year now and its the best charger I've ever used. Better than the hyperions IMO for less money. |
hey guys well im jhautz's friend and i am thinking that im gona some how make the fma cellpro 10s charger get extra special ordered at my local hobbytown and it says it doesnt come with a power suppy but that you can ajust the input power ampage and i was just wonderinf if you think that a 5 amp power supply would be able to keep TWO 4 cell 5000mah zippy lipo batteries charged through out the entire raceday without it dying or losing alot of power by the end of the race help would be greatly appreciated Thanks DirtDawg offroad RC member

and also is that charger made by revlectronix or fma?
|
You get it a FMAdirect.com . Yes, it has the revlectrics brand on it too.
To charge two 5000mah 4s packs at the full 5 amps at the same time, you would probably want to pick up a 15amp ower supply. If you are just doing one at a time you can just get a 10 amp power supply. |
do you think for at the track i could just hook it up to the car battery and at home use a starter box battery?

and im about to call hobbytown and ask them if they could special order that for me so who should i say is the maker of it revlectronix or fma direct?
|
and would the starter box battery work?
|
Not sure really. They should be able to find it if you tell them both and the model name of Cellpro 10s. You also will need to get the adapters for the packs you are going to run. On the FMA site they re around $15. If you want to be able to charge 2 packs at once you will need 2 of them. Which adapter you get will depend on what type of balance plug your lipo pack has. If you are going to order it make sure you order the balance plug adapters at the same time or it will be useless without it.
Go to the FMA site and look up the part numbers of what you want. Then there wont be any confusion. |
