Thinking of a 8000kv Mamba MRS4

Well you know here I am sitting in my room and just looking at some old stuff i have and i pick up my mrs4 and i was thinking about putting a 8000kv brushless in it. I heard these things can go 60mph+ and that is really what i am looking to do with it. Just drag race and beat everyone with a tiny car :D

So this is what i had in mind:

-8000kv motor+25 Mamba speed control
-3 cell thunder power lipo pack 1350mah(11.1V)
-1 Charger for the cell( What do you recommend?)
-A receiver that can handle the 3s lipo pack(again what do you recommend?)
-Some kind of carbon fiber deck to fit all this stuff(penguin r/c is meant to be good i think)
-Metal pinion
-And leaving the drive train sotck, only upgrading the parts that break.

Well i guess this is pretty much similar to everyone else's rs4 brushless setups but what i wanted to do with the car is also jump it at full speed and see it fly off lol. I guess it will have to land on grass.

Anyway just wanted to make sure my brain was thinking in the right direction.

the 8000 would sure be fast but i would go with the 5400 for better runtimes since it wont pull as many amps.

I would say so

lol :L:

Back on topic, what receiver and charger should i use? My radio are futabas 3pJ's.

novak xxl and a mrc 989 would be my choice.

Your exceeding the rpm limit if you use 3s lipo on the 8000. Go for the 6800. The 5400 will probably not be able to reach 60 mph.

How do you figure? Castle has data posted on their site regarding the use of an 8000 in a Mini-T on a 3S Lipo.

I have a friend that runs 3s lipo in his 18T with the 8000 as well, he gets somewhere above 70 out of that package, but it explodes if he crashes.

$w!ft 01.20.2006 12:31 PM

What do you mean it explodes if he crashes? You mean the whole system will automatically explode if he crashes? That sounds abit wonky.

If i were to go off-road, would the rc18t be a better choice than the mini-t since it has 4wd?

dabid 01.20.2006 02:43 PM

I mean that if he crashes, parts fly in every direction and he has to drop at least $50 on the parts needed to get it going again.

And yes, the 18T is MUCH better than the Mini T because of the 4wd, it's more durable too.

$w!ft 01.20.2006 02:48 PM

yah cant decide between the rc18t or keepin the rs4, i will definetly get then jumping at 60mph if i do get this lol.

Once you drop a 8000 in the 18t though, it's not gonna be real off road-able though. Just because of the low ground clearence mainly, if you're not running on a nice groomed (or at least really flat and totally free of rocks) dirt surface, it'll get tossed around. I took my 18MT w/ 6800 to some bike jumps the other day and had to toss it back in the car and go with my much bigger Savage just because the little truck couldn't track in a straight line and even get off any of the jumps because of the little rocks and ruts and stuff. I was running stock 18t "pin" tires too, so traction was certainly better than it would have been with the MT tires.

There's a couple free mods I want to do to try and fix this though, I'll wait until I'm done with them to totally abandon off roading with that little thing.

well you know i certainly dont want to be running it on pavement(unless i stick my my rs4), and maybe running it on grass or some packed dirt it is out of control you say? Like not even fun out of control?

Hmm. Maybe with all that extra torque you could fit some 1/10 tires with some modding.

dabid 01.20.2006 09:26 PM

1/10 tires are way too huge and will stress out the driveline, they do make adapters for touring car wheels though and there's a few spikey tires availible for those.

Have you already bought the system yet? If not, just go with a slower motor, my 6800 in my 18t is almost too much for the small 200' long street next to my house, not just because of the speed either.....the truck has super acceleration too. Maybe just go with a 5400 system, then run more voltage if you want to go faster (i.e. 3s lipo or 12 cells). It will still be more than enough in the Micro RS4 and pretty quick in a 18t as well, 8000's are flat out stupidly powerful, and almost uncontrollable because they like to flip forward on hard braking and make steering inputs dicey at high speeds.
