Soldering Iron Wattage
hey guys im newbie into soldering I just plan of doing some deans plug solder and bullet connector no really delicate solder job like on the electronics boards or battery cells solder... anyone know a good one Wattage solder Iron for me ?
and for solder core I buyed this : 60/40 it is perfect ? im also buyed trinity rosin flux for solder ... thanks for your help! |
The Deans only need about 30W, but that's a bit low for bullet connectors since they make a much better heatsink. I have a 60W iron and it works great on 6mm bullets. The smaller stuff just gets done even faster. Instead of using solder and flux separately, look for "rosin core" solder. Radio Shack sells it, as does any hardware store. 60/40 is fine for R/C use. Always make sure the tip of the iron is clean and tinned. I use a 100 grit sanding sponge to wipe the iron off after every joint is made, and it stays tinned too.

Hey- that's the iron I have! :oh: So yeah that one is good. Is there any place around you that sells this stuff? There are so many retailers that carry it that it would be a waste of shipping costs to order it online unless absolutely necessary.

when I want any stuffs I dont care about paying im not afraid of shipping cost
|
Oh and for the solder- HERE You get twice as much for less than twice as much money AND faster shipping.
No you don't need to use flux with this solder. It is built-in. |
thanks for your help! :great:
|
No problem! Don't burn your fingers...............
|
heh I forget to ask
lead free solder = no rosin flux added right ? and core rosin solder = with rosin added right ? |
No, lead free means there is no lead (Pb) in the solder so it isn't toxic to the environment. If it says rosin core, then yes, there IS flux in the center of it.

okokok!
now I understand! |
OK!
|
go for a 500w iron! you will be able to solder anything that doesn't melt the second you touch it! and you can do 6.5mm bullets in just 1 second
