Cracked lipo case
 

is this bad ? the lipo itself look ok, it has a very small dent inm it there.more of a mark.

Run it! If it doesn't work fir you Thursday I'll bring a 5s setup for you to run

it should work fine, there no rip or puncture.

Put some hot glue over it and run it. Just a cracked piece of plastic!

i took an old associated battery cup and cut it down some then shoe goo'd it onto the pack.

cut it and put some sho goo on it

Was that a TP pack?

its crc 's new 5000 40c lipos.

just for the sake of knowing, how does one tell if a lipo pack in a hard case puffs or swells ?

The case will visibly bulge or separate. The outgassing of the lipo internals is quite powerful, and the foil cases can handle a fair amount of pressure. I have seen cells puff up to 3 times their normal thickness..

thanks, i was wondering how one would tell,i didnt know if the case would separate or not. i was looking through your repair thread and didnt find any puffed lipo packs in a hard case.i was wondering what they looked like.

Yeah you can see the plastic bulging a bit. The worst thing I have seen happen to a lipo was a hard case orion 4800 that was accidentally charged on a nimh setting . The cases separated without being damaged and the pack ended up being about 4 inches tall. Was noticed just in time, so no smoke or fire.

Yeah you could use them as an airbag suspension on your truck. It would be a bit too slow to hop with, though. :whistle:
