Awesome electric go karts

Got two videos of electric go karts you guys might like.

First up is a brushless kart, has 3 Turnigy outrunners and a centrifugal clutch and 12S10P LiPo -

When they really nail the throttle it spins the tires while rolling, talk about torque!

Second is a kart with 8 12 Volt deep cycle batteries and a 48 Volt 1000 Amp PWM motor controller, not sure on the motor -

That one is pretty cool too, but I wish they did some kind of speed run in the video. Seems to have alot of torque though.

I wonder how much it would cost to convert a kart, like just a rough average. I have a racing kart like the one in the first video that I used to race when I was in the 5th grade, got out of kart racing and haven't touched it since, might be a cool project to convert it.

+1!!! poor clutch never had a chance lol

Second vid...AWESOME!!!!

It needs alot more clutch, or much lighter springs, or something...

Or... just dont use a clutch.

+1 on that

The clutch was a good idea in theory, as it'll eliminate cogging and make it easier on the motors to get the kart moving from a stop so they should heat up less. So to be able to gear for over 30mph and move 200+lbs, I think it was a good idea, especially if you were going to use only 2 motors. The clutch they used however looks like one a cheap 3-5hp gokart would use so an upgrade is definitely in order.

On somthing that heavy your going to need a clutch setup no doubt. Sensorless + 200lbs + clutch= smoother running and it will be much easier on the elec's. Plus you wont have to push start. I could maybe understand not using a clutch on a monster single sensorless motor but with 3 motors on one shaft you have to give them some leway.

If they get a heavier duty clutch they'll be GTG. I would suggest one pulled from a large chainsaw, like 80cc+ large.
