27mhz Antenna Wire Length
 

I bought a Hitec antenna wire to fix the rx on my rc18t and the wire is 1 yard long. How long should the antenna be?

How long was the original wire? I'd start there. With AM you will have longer range with a longer antenna, to a point.

I'm always wondering how long my AM antennas should be. I own several Traxxas receivers, and each of them has a different length of antenna :no:. I'm really getting frustrated with the range of my AM radios. Would putting a longer antenna on it give me better range? Would a longer antenna tube help?

Do a search. Do a search in this subforum. In the search box type, "antenna length". Then you will see how many times this has been asked and you will even find links (if you read the threads that pop up) to an antenna length calculator that will answer all your questions.

Also, you might learn that its easier to do a search and find the answer yourself than post a question and wait for a response.

I would've searched but I was using my iPod Touch and it wouldn't let me search. I'll just wait till I can use my LapTop next time.
