MM 2200 or Neu 1515/1y/f

Hello my friends

Just wanted to get some thoughts from you... I am just getting back the 2 mentioned motors... CC replaced the blown 2200 free of charge :yipi: and for just over $100 I had my neu updated to the larger front bearing, closed endbell, and finned can... Previously I felt the Neu was a slight bit faster, Torquier, and cooler.... I know they are supposed to be very close in design but just curious what your thoughts may be....

My plan is to use the Neu and keep the MM for backup as my luck with these large BL motors leaves a bit to be desired

Any thoughts or comments appreciated!

Heath

Whatever floats your boat... I'd expect the Neu might have the edge but not sure I could tell the difference very easily

that Neu with the closed endbell and larger bearings sounds sweet. do the newest versions come like that normally now? how long did it take them to do the upgrade?

i would run the Neu for sure. the CC motors are good motors but for example if you take both your motors and hold the shaft you will notice that you can push the rotor on the CC motor in and out ever so slightly. the Neu will not do this. i just think the US assembled Neus are built to tighter tolerances. but you cant go wrong with either really.

I believe CC actually build in that "slop" to allow the magnet to self centre - avoids the rotor trying to apply thurst forces to bearing

According to Alex at NEU it is hit or miss... They are shipped both ways as far as the bearing although all the new car versions If I remember correctly are shipped with the new endbell  They were pretty quik too... Took about 2 weeks including the time for me to ship it to them for them to have it ready for shipment... Total was $120 something to replace the motor(it ate a pinion:lol:) and upgrade to my requests(it was old style smooth) I was pretty darn happy with that!

I did call and speak to him directly to ensure it was quik but I am not so sure it was even neccasary... Thier customer service seems great

I own 2 Neu's and think that they are the best motors out there....but, as you know, quality is pricey

The castle is a great motor for those who can't afford a Neu, but the Neu ftw if you can afford it.

Basically the same motors. The CC version is physically a bit longer so it will have more surface area to stay cool, is built for cars (no holes for dirt to get in), and cheaper for not much less quality. The "real" Neus may be a bit more efficient (haven't seen graphs comparing them side by side), but are really made for heli/aircraft with cooling holes to keep the internals a bit cooler.
