Race weekend.

I am going to a race weekend tomorrow for three days 2 hours away. I have done a few things to make sure I can finish a race without breaking something, modded my Quark with cap bank/thermal pad adhesive. Put the stock dual servos back in, I had a single 645mg in before because of space constraints, and this and that.

So there is the usual practice sessions, qualifiers, and then 30 min MAINS in the afternoon.

Now I am running a 1512/3D(1700kv) running on 6s 4200mah 35C G3 lipo pack, I have not yet timed my runtime yet, as I have to pick up my Hyperion 720i today to fully charge them (have been using programmable power supply @ 4.1v/cell, non-balanced).......so my question is, can I survive the 30 mins main without swapping batteries? These batts are very strong, with almost no voltage drop under low to medium throttle management, so I should get some extra runtime(energy) from the voltage available.

What do you guys think? I have 3 other 6s 4350 25C Enerland lipos I could maybe use, as well as a couple 7s A123 packs... which would be a good option, IMO.

no - i'd guess 18-20mins

I don't think any one battery would make a 30min main. You'll have to swap packs or balance & run a 2p configuration.

Yah, okay that's what I was thinking, I know I can get 30 mins runtime bashing around if not too hard on the throttle... but I suppose racing is that intense. :whip:

Now I have to get a good way to swap packs out quick, I don't have a batt tary or anything, just a thick alum. plate bolted to the two mounts on the right side of the revo's chassis.

I'll see what I can do with some lexan sheet I have. I might just have to use the 4350mah Enerlands then...

These 4350 6s Enerland (hyperions) seem to be taking a long time to balance, or is this normal for new packs?

Metallover 06.26.2009 12:24 AM

If you charged them without balancing them before then it should be expected. I would think over time the balace time would go back to about nothing...

I just charged it yah, this second pack I balanced first, and am charging as I type. I am going to do a couple ch/dsch cycles on them before I use them.
