Eagletree data recorder q

Hey I am looking at an Eagle Tree recorder just to get a better idea of where my setups are at.

Is a 100A one sufficient for my Savage Flux?

Can I just wire it in one pack and get readings for that one pack (stock esc has a serial connector set up to two plugs)

I'm looking at getting an eagle tree as well. However I think the 150A version will be more appropriate for larger vehicles.

I would wire it in to get a reading from both packs.

I run a 150 in a rustler and have seen peaks of 175 amps on 4S a123 and a 6000 Kv motor so I would go with the 150A version for anything larger than 10th scale. Normally I see peaks of 130A using 2S2P A123 just running a 4436Kv motor. My Rustler probably weighs less than half of a Flux. It weighs 4.52# even with everything on it including the data logger 3 temp sensors and RPM sensor and a 2S2P battery pack.

How much can 150A version record in amps? Is there some limit, that it wont show/record more than say 200A?

J57ltr 07.09.2009 02:04 PM

Don't know I have the value set to 200 in the min max tables, so I am not sure what the max is. I do know with a 600Kv motor and 4S 123 I have seen as high as 175 the only hotter motor I have is a 7700 that came with my MM. I normally don't run it like that right now I have a 3300 Kv motor and it pulls 95 amps with the same battery. I have tried the 7700 on 3S and got around 160 or so. I'll have to look at my logs, I log about everything even changes in gearing and tires.

Getting ready to order an eagle tree but have a question. What temp sensor do you recomend for a motor?
micro temp sensor

cylinder head temp sensor

The cylinder head sensor looks to be the easiest to attach to the motor

If you have some spare parts around, make your own. It's simple: http://rc-monster.com/forum/showpost...1&postcount=68

I don't have the parts and at less than $10 it's not a big deal. I'm planning on ordering the v3 150A logger, brushless rpm sensor and at least 2 temp sensors (motor and lipo, or motor and esc). Not to concerened about esc temps since I have never got a reading over 110* on my mmm and have only had the fan come on a couple times, high gearing on a hot day.

They need to be a 10K NTC thermister I bought a bunch of them at an old electronics store we have around here, they have anything you could imagine! I just used them and a rx plug like Brian did, although I like his thermistor better for a motor application. I have just been taping them to the motor with some kapton tape and some heatsink compound (it's a must on the motor).

So I basically use 3 of these LXPBP3
