stronger diff output ideas
I broke a diff output on my HotBodies. I think the truck landed off a big jump on just the left rear wheel. The output shaft twisted and sheared at the place where wheel drive shaft attaches. Are there a stronger options? Someone recommended Savage upgrade diff cups. Any other ideas?
(my brother-in-law was driving. :slap: he probably landed WOT on that wheel) |
Hmmmmm, I broke just about everything on my LSP's but never a outdrive cup ?
No clue for a aftermarket hopup for that ? I also think anything Savage will either be the same exact part (strenth wise) or not fit. If you find something please post, I'm curious to see whats availible ? |
Do you mean the rcm diff output shafts for the hybrid bulks? I am guessing you are either using cvds on the maxx or the stock sliders? I think this was discussed before and Mike was going to make a stronger/redesigned set?
|
Thanks for answering James. They are the original HotBodies output shafts because I was using 3.3 sliders. I will upgrade to UE cvds when I fix this though. Did Mike ever do it?
|
Not sure if he redesigned them or not. Chris (Arct1k) had a thread about this IIRC. If you are using the sliders you must have a set of the rcm diff outputs, cause the hb outputs have a built in dogbone cup, like any other 1/8 diff output.

I would just replace like with like- its a $5 part (or a homemade effort made from a stock traxxas stub axle trimmed down, $2 part) that probably wont ever break again, just a fluke occurence...
|
Thanks, I think that is what I will do.

I use HotBodies diff too and the output its very soft and easy to break thats fact.
now I use this Traxxas Stub Axle Steel Revo I just cut the thread by a dremel :) |
Need a little help remembering. What is the easiest way to replace my output shafts? Do I have to take the ring gear off of the cup or do I use the grub screw that is in the cup?
|
Both- you need to dismantle it pretty much to replace both outputs:
