BL Revo 3.3 compared to 8ight-T
Hello !
I have a Revo 3.3 converted with MM and Medusa 36-60-2000 (IIRC). Now I have the option to buy a 8igth-T 1.0 Roller, plan would probably be to run MMM, Medusa from above and 4S. Would the 8ight be a better (more robust) basher, jumper ? Would the Medusa be up to the task ? |
The 8 will be a ton stronger, better handling, fliy straighter and more level!
|
The 8ight-t is all around better. I used to be a MT guy but ever since I've gotten into truggies I never even thought of getting a MT again. The 60mm will be up to the task if you keep it light, but if it's over 10 or 11lbs consider getting a 70mm.
|
With the 60mm keep the speeds low and it should be ok, I have a 70mm 1600kv that I have run in my RC8T on 5s, it gets into the 150's on the track geared for about 35. I would recomend no more than 30MPH for the 60mm to keep things cool.

Just from my experience watching the Truggy guys at the track... they are WAAY better handling, WAY tougher, like E-revonut said, they fly STRAIGHT off the jumps, and seem like they have some sort of anti-gravity device in them that keeps them level and always landing on their feet!
I am getting a truggy soon. Most likely a 8T 2.0 |
Where are you planning on getting the roller, btw?
|
Truggy...period. Revo is nice for a MT class or for beginners. If you plan to get serious in bashing or doing any club racing, the 8T 1.0 is a serious machine. Will turn on a dime.
|
Just for comparison's sake, I turned out a for my quickest lap time, a 44.9 sec lap... and the best lap I saw for the truggies was 39.8 secs. That's huge.
|
I run my Revo 3.3 BL usually about 1 sec behind my truggy on average lap times.
|
I'm a beginner... and the truggy guys are extremely good, well practiced! The track is set up for them, IMO.
1 second behind? Either you are really good with the Revo, or your tuggy driving skills aren't the greatest. |

Yup...only 1 second behind. :eyes: |
Anyone else going to barnstormers for the 12th or the 26th?? Should be a blast.. I will be down most likely w/ my 8b & 8t w/ the anti-gravity and turbo brushless stabilizers charged and ready.....
May even bring the e-revo and hyper mini STe just in case :) |
Thanks guys, the 8-T it is then, the truggy will be bought locally here in Sweden.
Can I use the same motor mount as for the 8-B ? I cant find any 8-T specific one in the shop. |
The 8b motor mount will bolt right up.
|
PS ya i've been racing my e-revo for about a year now and can beat most truggies but I'm also a full second faster when I drive my 8t truggy vs my erevo... 8t takes a TON more of a beating vs the erevo as well.. e-revo is a great truck, but on the track even dialed in, she breaks too much vs a good truggy (8ight-t in this case). Having a 8ight buggy, truggy and the e-revo for racing on a track the e-revo is my last choice.
PS that medusa 60mm motor is great in the buggy, but it's not quite enough for an 8ight-t iMO, so gear it down to 35mph max top speed if you want it to last for any length of time. |
