LBA 10 balancer question
This is directed to anyone who uses a pair of lba 10 balancers, networked together, to charge a pack 7s or more...
I have an emoli lipo pack for my milwauke drill, 7s 3000mah. The little internal lvc or whatever has crapped out, so I want to just set the pack up to charge off my 1210i. I would also like to add a balancer harness. I have a pair of lba 10 balancers, and the correct network cable for them. The hyperion diagram shows them setup in master/slave mode, but does not show them hooked to a single battery pack, just 2 packs. So I am wondering if I can use a serial harness on the outputs of the balancers to allow me to hook up the 7s pack? I had planned to put a 3s and 4s hyperion balancer taps on the pack, and just use the main pack outputs to hook the serial-wired charge cable to. I could wire the packs as a 3s and a 4s for charge purposes, but still use the main output to power the drill. I would prefer not to have to do any more wiring than necessary. |
If I understand you correctly, you want to run 3s to one LBA10 and 4s to the other, both networked. I'm not positive, but I don't think you can do that. You'd be better off IMO to make an adaptor so the 7s pack is split into a 6s for the primary LBA, and 1s for the secondary LBA.

new hyperion chargers can balance 7S :) (like EOS720)

I know that a 720i would work... Bit 200 bucks for a charger that I do not need.... |
So, you already have the pack split into 4s and 3s. OK, then make an adaptor to go from 3s+4s to 6s+1s. I'm sure this would work.

I'm sure you know this, but you did flip the little M-S switch right?

I can get the 2 balancers to do the stand alone balancing, but as soon as i try to put them in connect mode it gives the error. I will give your idea a try Brian, but think I will have to set the pack up as a 3 and a 4s, and then have a connector that will bridge them for series. That way I can remove the bridge and charge as 2 packs with the dual lba setup as it was intended to be used... Just a little more wiring, not too bad. Luckily their is a decent amount of room since I have removed the internal lvc/circuitry, so I can set something up there. Just need to find some samller than 13 gauge wire for charging, as the thick stuff will not fit the pack very well. |
