Turnigy chargers...
Figured I would be better off to start a new topic.
I know their batteries are fine, maybe not the best but work just fine for the price. The LHS got a turnigy charger in for $80, then $20 for the power supply. It sounds like a hell of a deal to me, but I would like to know if they are worth it? I was originally looking into a hyperion charger but they are pretty pricey and I would have to order it (canada is gay when you need to order parts). I am not exactly sure what model it was, I will try and dig it up on hobby city. But has anyone used them with success? Thanks, -Matt |
Depends on which model it is. If you can afford it get the hyperion 'cause I got a cheap chinese charger and it is really innaccurate at measuring cell voltage. Some people don't have a problem with them but do you want to take that risk or just get a decent charger?

I bought a Turnigy Accucel-6 to charge 2S lipos with and its been a solid charger. Been using it about 8months. It's amazingly full featured for what it cost. Its drawback is its a 50 watt charger. Anything 3S and above will run into current limitations. If you're looking at bigger cell counts, the Accucel-8 is a 150watt charger, same electronics, menus etc, just more output. On HobbyCity's site the 6 is $38 and the 8 is $70. Sound like your lhs is selling the Accucel-8.
The only complaint I've seen has been a few have had the fan fail. They seems to have used a cheapie fan and it makes noise and/or stops. |
It looks like the lhs is selling the accucel-6... I will check maybe tomorrow and make sure. If that's all it is, I won't bother. I will wait till I have the flow to get a hyperion set up.
