Why hasn't anybody thought of this??

I happen to be in the market for another set of lipos, and so I start checking the usual sites, like rc-monster and hobbycity. One thing that hit me is, why do these stores make it so hard to compare lipos? It seems to me the most logical way to arrange them is by cell count, and not by C rating as hobbycity does. the C rating doesnt even mean much without the capacity anyways.
When someone chooses to buy a lipo, they generally know the voltage and continuous amount of amps they need. The actual shopping would then be to choose the proper capacity and C rating. It just makes no sense to have to wander through a dozen pages to find and compare 3 batteries of the same voltage!

If anybody out there reads this who runs an online store that sells lipos, please consider this for the future.

If you could filter lipos by any combination of cell count, mah, c rating, brand, etc. that would fill my... cup.

But really, I'd like to see a system like this too. :great:

We just did this a week ago at Impakt RC. The categories for LiPo are 2S-6S now.

Huh? On hobby city use the lipo finder page. you can choose a mah range, C rating and number of cells and it lists everything, including price and stock status. I don't think they could do it any better.

Personally, I'd like a real search engine where you could enter your own values (or use a drop-down list of available options) that covers actual physical dimensions, capacity, cell count, brand, etc. It's not that hard to do.

The thing about the hobbycity deal, is that you have to coose all of them. I don't want to choose the c rating. I'd like to find all the 25 and 30c batteries, but I can't.

i just click on the turnigy or rhino ones now, i know what page all the good ones are on by now lol

HC does seem pretty good as far as things go. Some other sites are fairly well laid out.

I love Mike and all, but RCM's lipo store is a bit of a mess. Its a jumble of everything in no particular order and its a pita to find what you want. I imagine this costs some business from people who get frustrated with it.

Ive used this site to find lipos specific for fitting in certain crappy battery boxes (traxxas) it has a flip down thing like my butt http://www.progressiverc.com/index.p...d=13&Itemid=18

Have you guys been to cheapbatterypacks.com. They have exactly waht you are talking about (although they don't have the largest selection of batts). But it is a really good search. Allow you to do all 3 dimensions, amp draw (not C), capacity, and Cell count.

BrianG 08.17.2009 04:15 PM

Be careful when looking for dimensions. The ones listed must be "cell" measurements because the packs I have were close, but not quite right (as much as 4-8mm off).
