oh no!! receiver wires ripped out of MMM

okay. im running my e-revo inside my cousins huse just for shits and giggles . and out of nowhere my e-revo stops running on a 6-cell nimh:oh:. so im wondering whats wrong? i open the case and discovered that the receiver wires were frayed and the heatshrink was sliding back and two of the receiver wires were touching:surprised:. so i try and slide the heatshrin back over the wire and SNAP! the wire came off the board. but the solder is still on the board. im like CRAP!!! :oops:so then i try and do the same to another wire and it comes off as well. double CRAP!!!

I am in no way bashing castle at all. its been working fine up until now . now im wondering if its under warranty or do i have to pay $70?

Did you open the case and/or do any soldering to the board? If the answer to both these questions is "no", then they should cover it under warranty. The only way to know for sure would be to contact them and explain what happened.

That said, if your setup was done in such a way so there was strain on the receiver wire, that would be more of a user problem.

i did open the case but to castle's instructions. and i never soldered anything. i did remove the switch thogh but that shouldnt affect it. and i believe its my fault because ive heard that the hole where the reciever wires exit out of the case is a tight fit to avoid yanking. in my thread in post #48 you can see that i drilled a hole at the bottom of the MMM case for the reciever wires to exit. but the wires are not taught. they are very loose. and i dont understand how it would be yanked in the middle of a 10mph run?

sorry if im coming off a little strong

Opening the case wont void the warranty so you should be fine. You just can't mod the case or solder on the board (mods or repair purposes) is my understanding. Talk with Castle and see what they can do for you.

lol, no problem. Just trying to see it from Castle's view so when you call them, you know what you may hear.

By drilling the hole you basically removed the strain relief from the board... Castle may not cover it but they may be able to repair it for the 15 lead replacement fee.

oh. well thats cool :)
i have a question for any castle employees.
the MMM came with and e-revo brushless edition. do i need to send it with the serial number sticker? is it okay if i removed the traxxas connectors? or do i need to send the MMM with them?

just look at a pic to find out the orientation of the wires and solder them back on, i did that to my buddies and its still working great

No worries -- just send it in. Don't worry about the traxxas connectors. Specify that you don't want the traxxas connectors and we'll leave 'em off.
