Mamba Max Magic smoke!

I've been running my MM in a Revo for quite some time now. Its paired with a Mega ACn22/30/1 and been on both 3s and 4s. It has a fan on it too and I'm running 14/40 with close transmission two speed still functioning. I also have a few small holes in the front of the body to keep atleast a little outside air moving over it. I have NEVER had heat problems with it until recently which is why I put the fan on in. Today after driving for only 5 minutes and not even that hard smoke started to pour out of my truck and everything shut down... Is there anyway to fix this or can this be warrantied/ fixed for cheap or do I need to get a new ESC? Thanks

Castle's out of warranty service for any failure for the MM is $50: http://www.castlecreations.com/support.html

Obviously, that would be cheaper than a new ESC.

Since it was running for a long time, I would suspect "tired" caps. And then they go, FETs will follow shortly after. Running a MM on something heavier like a Revo will tend to push that small ESC more so than if you were running something bigger like a MMM. Sure, it works, but it does get stressed more.

Castle doesn't warranty the MM esc being run in MT's such as the e-maxx and e-revo because of the weight and increase load on the electrical system. I would agree that I would bet it started with tired caps, then the fets when out with a puff. Time for a bigger esc now that they are available. I'd try a refurb MMM, only 100 bones if they still got them and they have full waranty.

IIRC, thy won't warranty it free if used in larger vehicles, but if you pay the $50, you can send in a pile of ash and they will take care of you. Either way, contact them, be honest, and see what they say...

Ideally I wanted a MMM but I couldn't afford it and since the MM did fine for me I kept running it. I put a fan on in when it started heating up more(probly due to a tired cap???). I'll call them up and tell them my story. And whats this abotu a refurbed MMM for only $100??? Where?

They're refurbed V1's and V2's. Castle thinks they solved the problem with them and they had them up for sale starting about a week ago. There is a thread in the CC board.
