Great sport, yes it can get expensive, having all of your own equipment will help cut your ongoing costs.

If you need any, I have extra equipment I could be persuaded to trade for RC stuff.

that's awesome. There are some great jobs you can get too. an ex-gf of mine used to do underwater welding, and before that she did theft recovery diving in the abandoned mine pits of northern MN. had to let her go as she ate too much "hotdish" (casserole for any body not in the midwest) and exceeded me in mass.

back to the point, Congrats man!

i have just got back from Kas in turkey and have to say the diving is amazing.
i just got my padi advanced open water and did 10 dives in total (5 extra dives)
i did the wreck, peak performance buyoancy and night dive as well as the deep dive and navigation compulsory dives.
if you haven't done a night dive yet i can highly reccomend it, it's a bit weird when you 1st go down but after a while you get used to it. all the fish were "sleeping" and it was so cool to see 100's of them floating motionless.
cost in the UK is a huge factor. you may say you have it bad but double/triple the cost for just about everything in diving in the UK :lol:
what dives have you lot done?

just the basic training one and a evning "fun" dive...

cool are there good spots to dive near you?

devils lake state park is a few min away, IDK any other places...

Go scuba! I got my certification 10 years ago and have loved diving ever since. The Great Lakes are in my backyard (literally and figuratively) and there are tons of cool shipwrecks to dive.

I do like the ocean better, when I'm in FL we go down to the keys and the coral and fish are just amazing. Plus you don't need a wetsuit!
