My converted Losi 8T

4 Attachment(s)
This is my converted Losi truggy i finished about 6 months ago. I'm running Neuenergy and the new Hyperion 4S and 5S G3 35C packs. I usually run 14 or 16 tooth pinion with 50 tooth spur. Thing is crazy fast and handles very well on-road.

The Project I'm working on now is my Mutilator which is quite hopped up-just awaiting RCM Hyper motor mount and batt. tray.

I'm running on-road mostly because there aren't any real tracks up in Fargo, ND. Winters eliminate 6 months out of the year.

Anybody know about motor clamp for Medusa 70mm?

nitrostarter 08.03.2009 11:27 AM

Not positive but I think the RC-M Heatsink for the Feigao's will work. May need longer screws for the "L" size also.

Very nice setup on the 8T. I love the color choice as well as the stance of it. Any bodies?

I had been thinking of doing an on-road Truggy using my 8T as well. Unfortunately I sold it, but it's not hard to find another good used one...

Thanks nitrostarter. I may have to try the Feigao clamp, but I did hear that Mike at RCM set aside a lot of money a while back to produce Medusa heatsinks/clamps. It would be nice to have a clamp that blocked both the front and rear vent holes on the Medusas. I don't want to use it in my Mutilator yet because I've heard of the end bells coming off and destroying the motor.

I do have a 1.0 body that I airbrushed, but I don't use it much because the motor and esc get a lot more airflow with it off. I'll try to post a picture with it on tonight sometime.

Just finished balancing

Finished balancing earlier this evening and the difference is amazing. I used lead tape at a local golf shop. With about half throttle holding it in the air, there is next to zero wobble or vibration. I used one of the rear A-arms/axle with brand new bearings on my Mutilator minus the dogbone to balance it-probably worked as good as the Hudy or Dynamite balancer but minus the cost.

Looks awesome. This one slipped under my radar I guess.

PBO 08.12.2009 07:46 PM

It does look nice

I've balanced using blutak & lead shot, I found it easier to increase/decrease the weight by counting out the balls...seasame street wheel balancing!

How do those tyres go? I've only used the 2.2 versions & I gotta say I wasn't that impressed with them but there's virtually no other options aside from possibly Imex foams...but they look like a crash waiting to happen! - have you taped the r/rages?

Road Rage reply

Thanks fellers-

This is my second set on offset wabash rims and I love them. My first set was on my soon to be brushless nitro Muti. They have a ton of traction and increase handling and stability.

I run three strips of duct tape (about an inch in diameter each) the entire circumference of the tire and overlap by about 1-2 inches. Make sure you clean the surface of the tire with denatured alcohol first to maximize adhesion. This prevents most ballooning and increases surface contact.

My first set of Road Rages were the 2.2 series a few years back. I ran one strip of duct tape 1 inch in diameter along the tire thinking that would prevent ballooning. However this was a mistake; the in- and ouside of every tire would balloon 1/2-1 inch, expunging all traction and handling.

I plan on taping and balancing some HPI Phaltlines with black Tremor wheels for my Mutilator. I've heard good things, especially at high speeds.

Foxracin 08.12.2009 10:42 PM

Looks great man.

PBO 08.12.2009 11:21 PM

The HPI's take a lot of work to stop ballooning but have been proven over 80mph

A truggy sized Ofna belted would be nice...listening Ofna?

blueb8llz 08.12.2009 11:34 PM

so you wrap around the tire 3 times? ive never heard of anybody doing that. i only do it one time. doesnt that add ALOT of wieght since duct tape can get pretty heavy.

Jesse M 08.13.2009 01:44 AM

No, three strips of duct tape circumferentially across the width of the tread surface-about 3 grams per strip son

cavy 08.15.2009 12:13 AM

looks good

zeropointbug 08.15.2009 12:43 AM

Beauty. How do those G3's perform in the 8T? ;) I have a 6s 4200 35C pack and it crazy.

Jesse M 08.15.2009 01:24 PM

The G3s are nice in the 8T. Probably a bit more power than my Neuenergy 30/60, but the temps on the G3 batt. are about 10-20 degrees cooler on average. 95-110 compared to 115-130 after a hard run
