ue 6 spyder diifs and traxxas 5451r cvd?
hi guys!!
i already ordered a gorilla g4 chasis that will arrive in the nexts twoo weeks to my house in spain :yipi: , now i ordered a desert rat body (long version) and the kit of traxxas cvd for the wheels, stock number: 5451r And i saw recently a pair of ue 6 spyder diffs so i need to know if those diffs will work good with the cvd of traxxas, anyone know anything about it? I will post some pics of the building when the parts arrives thanks!! |
You will probably need to swap out the stock drive cups on the the UE diffs for some RCM style outputs, so that you can use the traxxas cvd drive cups- the UE ones tend to be a bit short/ shallow causing the cvd dogbone end to pop out. Mike sells the required items:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMdiffshaft or you can make your own from traxxas stub axle parts- just cut off the threaded portion: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHFY7&P=7 And I have a tutorial (of sorts) of how to install them: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8012 |
suicideneil thanks for the fast reply and great post tutorial, affortuneitly you have post really nice pics cause my english is quite bad, with those pics is really easy to follow.
So if i buy the ue 6 spyder with the "aluminum diff case" i will still need to buy 1/8 bulkheads cause i noticed that your assembled diff is quite bigger as the stock diff in the pic you post in your tutorial suicideneil. I already received a set of 4 d8 shocks and they looks amazing, i will post some pics if you want Again thanks!!! EDIT: i just finished building my d8 shocks, they are awesome, super smooth and fit really well, maybe a little closer to the cvd slider but quite far to dont touch it!! and they look great!! Some pics: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/747/d8shock.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/2...shockcompa.jpg |
woww sorry guys the pics are too big!!!

Nice shocks.
The UE diffs do require special cases though, yes. You have 2 options: http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/13551.html Very difficult to buy, as UE dont sell outside the USA- ebay or seek help from a USA based friend. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...LM18700&cat=31 Much easier to buy, and does the same job- just replaces the seperate diff cases with cases built into the bulkheads. |
hey suicideneil u are being very usefull, the diffs i want to buy comes with the ue ultralite housing and the 2 difss so if i bought those diffs with the ultralite housings what else i will need to buy? hybrid bulkheads or will work with stock bulkheads?
THANKS!!! |
If you are getting something that looks like:
http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...tems/13549.jpg (top left) that includes the cases, then you wont need to buy anything else to fit them- they work with any normal bulkheads for the maxx trucks. All you might need to do (besides the output shaft/cup change-over) is get some diff fluid/ oil, depends whats in there already ( I use 7k front & 5k rear, fairly standard starting point ). If you use the stock type center drive shafts, you can use this: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...rcmrevocoupler on the input shaft of the diff to connect it to the drive shaft, or there are special drive cups that work with the larger 8mm shaft if you want to use center cvds or dog bones: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...RCM8mmdrivecup (HotBodies also sell similar items, thats what I used). |
Who makes those shocks? Anyway to make those pics smaller my monitor isnt that big.lol
