ESC setup and gearing
 

I need some advice on setting up my RX8 and what kind of gearing I should use. Iam new to 1/8 racing and need some direction.

I have a RC8t with the RCM e conversion, not sure what size spur....what ever came with the conversion.

My esc and motor is the RX8 1550 combo. Should be at my door step tomorrow. I will be running 6s 35c g3 hyperion.

Now here comes the questions......

-Using the hotwire, what settings should I set the esc at? Track is about medium size.
-What should I set the lipo cutoff at?
-what size pinion should I use? Trying to avoid heat but still keep the power, iam in NC so it gets pretty hot
-is this a good setup for my truggy?

- 14t pinion should be fine to the truggy
- Its a great system for the truck
- set the lipo cutoff to 18-19v

Can I get some clarity on where my settings should be using the hotwire? Also, iam a little confused as to what some of them do...punch control ect. Will someone explain these please?

Punch control is how much of the power is restricted upon initial throttle. So when you hit the throttle, do you want all of your power? Then leave it at 0%. However, if you want it to ease into the throttle, add % and find a good spot. I had my MMM setup at 50%.

Timing setting: I would run Normal timing or 10 degrees. If your temps are a little high, try lowering the timing a bit.

I'm not sure of the other changeable setting on the RX8 since I don't own one. Others will chime in.

If you list them, I'm sure we could help.

Timing advance set at 10, NW depends on what radio you use. Gearing will also depend on track size and layout.

The other settings are personal prefference. Things like drag brakes,etc.
