How to change rear Differential oil?
What parts do I need to remove to change this?
|
You have to take it far enough apart to get the diff out of the housing. They you need to get the diff apart to get the old oil out and put the new in.

once you get to the diffs remove the screws to the cases and take them apartand remove the diff. the diff has two different bearings so make sure you put them back in the right places. remove the four screws that hold the diff together and remove the ring gear so you can see the insides of the diff.be sure to remove the seals and clean the all the metal and plastic with nitro cleaner reinstall all the seals and reverse the disassembly. just remember where you took everything as far as what exactly to remove i can't tell you, I just pull screws till i get to what i need to work on. I hope this helps. |
well its just like crazy said but you dont have to split the bulks. all you have to do is remove the rear bulk assembly, remove the sliders from the diff and it will slide right out of the top.

never thought of that:007:  :dft003: |
It was fairly easy. I removed the 2 long bolts holting the shocks. Then the right side rocker bolt thats bigger and goes into the frame.
The exhaust was removed, and the 3 bolts under that. ...ermm.... I think that was it... oh wait disconnected the left side push rod so I could swivel the rocker outta the way, and loosened the motor mount bracket thingies so the drive shaft could slip under them... and of course the set screw that held the center drive shaft was removed. I couple tugs and a slight pry upwards and the whole rear assembly came off. Removed the blue rear backer off that.. and then it was the easy stuff.. find screws and remove it till the diff was open... it was about 8 more. .. oh ya remove the other 2 drive shafts can't get the case apart without them removed. |
good, glad you got it out

nothing like doing it yourself and having it all come together. Good work - now go have fun with it...
