It's alive!...And now i think i need a better slipper.
I just wanted to say hi  and show you guys my truck. I'm running a novak HV-MAXX 6.5 pro(i run nimh batteries), KD motor mount, flux tranny, flux battery boxes, 3pm 2.4ghz radio(not in pics), 645mg servo, x radio box, and other then that its mostly stock. What upgrades do you guys think i may need, not shure how the stock diffs will hold up. What slippers you guys like?

kershaw designs has a nice cheap slipper clutch upgrade. if your diffs go out, get the x style bulkheads as they allow for much easier access to the diffs. your tires most likely have 14mm hexes. if i were you, i would epoxy the hex nut into the wheel BEFORE it strips and it should be fine. if you still have the stock metal rollbar, the x style rollbar would be better for bashing. if you end up upgrading to lipos, i suggest checking out hobbycity. their flightmax and turnigy batteries use the exact same cells. all the batteries they are are generally true to their ratings. i recommend the 2s 5000mah 20c turnigy packs for your setup. the best part is, they are only $20 each. you will notice a huge boost in performance. i have the turnigy 6s charger and it was the best rc-related $40 i have spent. it is very good for charging any type of battery. i even charged up a 1/1 car battery with it.
if you want more power or your motor burns up, i recommend the CC/NEU motor. it is a little pricey, but it is the best value for a motor at the moment. i use $45 KB motors, but i had to have kershawdesigns make me a custom mount for them as they are much bigger than most motors. if you end up needing a new esc, nitrorcx.com has the EZrun 80a (highly underrated) 4s esc for only $50. they also have the EZrun 150a 6s esc for $100. i got the 150a for my savage. hope this helps. |
Thanks for the tip on the 14mm hex, I have had that same issue with my e-maxx. I will have to try epoxy, are 17mm or 23mm any better? I just got a savage 21 roller to build a 2nd savage, i was going to run a brushed setup(EVX-1 & Traxxas 550's from an e-maxx i sold as a roller) but that ez-run sounds great. Thanks for the info!

17 or 23mm would be a big improvement, just depends which particular rims and tyres take your fancy.

17mm is sufficient for most setups. the only time you would really need 23mm hex is when you have those crazy 8.5" jumbokong or rc4wd tires.

Can I use X bulks with 21 arms, also will the other new X stuff(skids, arms, up-rights....) fit the old 21/25 stuff.
Thanks for all the help  |
yes, it is all interchangeable.
