With all the new metal coming out, all I can say is :neutral:. The vocals are slower and they don't have any emotion behind them. I like the old stuff.

Some of this new stuff is losing the touch that made the bands popular.

Metallica (Death Magnetic)
Slayer (World Painted Blood)
Children of Bodom (Blooddrunk)
All That Remains (Overcome)
Avenged Sevenfold (Avenged Sevenfold)

Nothing against these bands, they are amazing bands, but the music has just lost its.. melody? Seems like the vocals don't go with the music on some of the songs. It's become more about speed then anything else. Some of the bands stop playing music and just try to play fast; some of them have softened up. It sucks.

Really the only new stuff I like is by lamb of god. Their new album is called Wrath, and it is avery bit as good if not better then their old stuff. Listen to Reclamtion. At about 3:40 in the lyrics are awesome.

What do you guys think about all the new metal music coming out Nowdays?

I'm so F'in old, I read the post and a Deep Purple riff just went through my head and it was undeniably better.
When I was a kid, I was lulled to sleep with Zeppelin via 45's. So what do I know ?

The problem with most new metal is that it's all drop d, noisy riffs with no really good rythms or melodies, and horrible vocals. I don't mine screaming and death metal style vocals, but make them good.

The other thing about most new metal is that it all sounds virtually the same and is predictable. I can't stand being able to predict where a song is going to go the first time I listen to it, I want some changes, some spontaneity, some creativity, and so on.

Of metal bands over the past 40 years here are some ones I think really have their own sound.

Obviously the Kings Black Sabbath,

Merciful Fate, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Deep Purple, Motorhead, Slayer, Anthrax, DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, Pantera, Metallica, Sepultura (after the first few slayer-esque albums), Soulfly, White Zombie (never will I understand why Rob Zombie went on his own, Sean, Jay, and John made that band along with Rob's vocals when they didn't crack), Korn, Corrosion of Conformity, Soilent Green, Clutch (these guys just put a whole new sound in the mix), Vision of Disorder, Prong, Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), Mushroom Head, Meshuggah, Demon Hunter, The Dillinger Escape Plan (what a site to see live!), Norma Jean, Maylene and The Sons of Disaster, Faith No More (really anything with Mike Patton involved, he is one of the best vocalists ever, period)

There are many more but these are my highlights off the top of my head.

I "grew up" in the 80's so the metal bands of the 80's and 70's are much better than today's metal IMO. I will listen to almost any music, but metal gets the motor running per say.

Funny this came up..late the other night I was listening to a Iron Maiden special when they were on tour a couple of yrs. ago...07' I believe. They played a 1/2 hr. mini. concert and they still can rock! Brought me back a decade or two...

I think lamb of god will be a classic metal band in the years to come. Really the only band making great stuff. Nothing really compares to Lamb of God either. Very unique.

One other band should be mentioned, System of a Down. One of my favorites. Not the most hardcore metal band, but amazing to say the least. Too bad they split; hope they re-unite some day.

Like the lyrics (politial views about government and iraq), image (biblical), guitar (awesome odd riffs), and just the style of music.

However good lamb of god is, I don't think any music period will compare the the glory days of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Bodom,,,, I'd mention Sabbath but I haven't listened to much of them... All I know is that they make some great music and you can pretty much say they started the metal genre.

I agree with Metallover, Lamb of God is classic. However, I went to the death magnetic concert and quite liked it, but I couldn't hear anything for a couple of days after :lol:

Talk about going soft, have you heard Fear Factory lately? :no: Horrible...

I definitely like the newer metal better than pre-90's stuff. Most of my collection is post-2000 though. If you like lots of melody look into Hell Within and/or The Autumn Offering. If you prefer hard and/or heavy sounds (like me) check out Kataklysm and/or Misery Index.

i like a GOOD song but it has to be old and a well known classic. i'm still 17 but for some wierd reason i dont do what other kids do, dont like parties (drunkeness etc), dont like "scream-o" music and i dont smoke dope LOL

i like the best songs that Queen made...they rocked!!
