Gearing for a E-Revo w/10xl and 16 cells??

i will be running my E-Revo with a maxx tranny, 10xl motor, 9920, 16 ib 4200 cells, and revo slipper assembly with a 40 tooth mod1 spur. what would be a good place to start for gearing? i was thinking of 16 or 18 but dont want to buy a 16 or 18 and it be under of over geared since the pinions arent to cheap. any help would be greatly appriciated.

A 40t slipper? Id try a 13 or 14 t to start with on the save side, the less teeth on the spur the more speed, but since its a 10XL on 16 cells you could get away with a 15t. But id try somthing lower so your controller doesnt have problems. hope this helps.

well i just tried it and it wobbles ever so slightly so it looks like im going with the strobe system. any ideas where to start with that? also remember, brushless can fry from being under and over geared so starting to low will be just as bad as starting high.

Put a 14 to start and maybe a 15 or so for faster runs. You running the emaxx tranny or the tmaxx tranny. That is for the e

Now you change up on me. ;) Well I would go 18 51 or so. That would make it run. With a low kv motor and a low cell count for it. It is not as bad as if you push your motor.

Sylvester 02.12.2006 09:11 PM

Yes 18/51 sounds about right, and if it isnt doing the best , you can get away with a 20.

squeeforever 02.13.2006 07:19 PM

well the 18 is sold out. so would a 20 be ok? remember, this is a 10xl after all....

Sylvester 02.13.2006 07:27 PM

It should be ok, and the fact its a 10xl it will be ok with a 20;P

coolhandcountry 02.13.2006 08:09 PM

You can run a 20. I have ran a 20 on a 9xl with 16 cells.

well i went to run my truck with the new strobe slipper and 20 tooth pinion for the first time with the new motor and come to find out that one of the ib 4200 cells is bad:035: :mad:1 :035: would it be ok to run it with the 20/51 gearing on 12 cells?

Sylvester 02.18.2006 11:03 PM

I think it would be ok, but by the looks of it, it will be no faster than a hv-maxx, and it will not have very good torque. Sorry to hear about the bad cell :(

squeeforever 02.18.2006 11:26 PM

thanks syvester. its ok that it would be slow, i just want to run it for now since it will be about a week till i can get another cell in. although hes out and it wouldnt let me send him a email:035::mad:1 :035:anwho. i guess i could always run 15 cells until i get another....hey sylvester, have you run your 10l yet?

Sylvester 02.18.2006 11:30 PM

I am still awaiting it, it should be here monday or tuesday with all the goods, i still have to get a strobe slipper with a pinion thought. Ill report as soon as its running.

coolhandcountry 02.19.2006 09:50 AM

Hey run it on 12 squee and let us know how it does. I think it may be more than slyvester says. No offense slyvester. ;) I have seen a recommendation on the 10 xl of 12 - 20 cells. I would try it.

squeeforever 02.19.2006 10:52 AM

so 20/51 would be ok? coolhand, if it frys it your paying for it!
