anybody here racing 1/8 buggy with the hvmaxx 6.5?im planning to get a buggy and use my extra 6.5 pro system with ubec on 4s

Yes, somebody is. Ask Alvin Cheung about his experience. His screen name is "spikeitaudi" on HobbyTalk (www.hobbytalk.com). I race with him, and his Novak powered car is about the same speed as my Neu and Tekin powered cars. If you get the 14MM HV Tuning rotor your HV6.5 will run cooler.

I used to race the 7.5 HVPro system as well as some others at the track.
Unfortunately, if the fan on your HV ESC fails, your ESC will let the smoke out shortly after. :gasp:

I like the HV motors for small tracks and will try my 7.5 with the Mamba Pro when it's available.

I tried to race with a hv 4.5 last year. That was definately not a good idea.
This season I have been running the HV Pro 6.5 with no ill effects. The track is big but technical, there is only 1 long straight everything else is not very high speed.
The buggy can definately keep up with with the nitros, just make sure you are following novak's gearing suggestions.
I just picked up a CC BEC to try to eliminate the issue of one of my dual packs ends the run w/ 0.1V lower Voltage (onboard BEC only draws from the "batt 2" plug, but can only handle 2s lipo).
I haven't had any problems with the Novak onboard BEC, but I am hoping running an external BEC with extend the ESC and battery life (ESC=lower temp, batteries- more balanced).

For a buggy I think the Novak system is a good choice. It doesn't give you so much power that you can't handle the car. If you are a pro on the track you could probaby handle a MMM or Tekin, but it would be overpowered and hard to handle for a beginner.

I raced one in my erevo (6.5 HV) all last year. It was fine. Geared for 35-37, I never had a problem with heat. Lots of people talk smack about these systems, but I was always competitive. Most tracks you can't get past 40 mph anyway. And sensored.... oh la la.

In a buggy, you should be fine. However I do recommend a slipperential.
