Which motor/esc for RC8te
I just bought a RC8te, and need to find a motor/esc for it.
I have my old FD combo with Castle hydra 120 esc and Finedesign XLT1 motor lying, but I would prefer another combo. It will drive on 4s and 5s lipo. Does any of you guys have a suggestion based on experience with this car. |
mmm 2650
Or Tekin rx8 |
For the Truggy, I'd go with the 2200KV MMM combo.

either sys. you choose, is a good choice quality wise |
I run the rx8 2000 combo in my 6t on 4s.
Are you racing, or bashing? I race and 4s is plenty with the 2000kv. |
Primarely bashing, but it is bought with the intense of starting to race. I expect some classes will open in small Denmark, or at least pray they will.
I have the MMM 2200 combo in my Aftershock. I might try that before deciding which system to put in it. I can just imagine it is too powerfull to race. |
Yeah, it probably would be. I'd go with the tekin 1900 truggy combo on 5s for racing.

I think the CC/Neu 2200kV on 4s would be fine for the track. You just need to control the throttle. My friend runs that on his 8T 2.0 and the front pulls up off the ground when he jams the throttle, so you need to have a more feather trigger. The same is true for most of these 1/8 setups. On 5s though, it would be very difficult to control.

I have a RC8T, not the associated electric version, rather a nitro conversion. Either way pretty close to the same. I race mine with a Tekno Neu 1515 2.5D, I have also ran with my Medusa 36-70-1600, both on 5s lipo. I run a 50t plastic spur and 14+15T pinions. I have amazing power yet it isn't that hard to control. I run 7-10-5 for diff fluids. Both motors are close in speed and power. The medusa actually seemed a little smoother but because the neu is larger diameter it has a bit more torque and it does run about 10* cooler so I have choosen to stay with the Neu. I'm currently trying to sell the Medusa if your interested in it. I have run both these motors with my MMM and it is very smooth.

If you have the funds, check out the Tekin RX8 ESC and T8 motor combos. If I had the funds, I'd definitely pick up one of those systems. They have a good range of motors to choose from with a couple that can run perfectly well on 2 different battery setups (i.e. on 4s/5s, or another on 5s/6s).

Thanks for all the inputs, I have decided to go with a Tekin RX8/2000 kv truggy system, and run it on either 4 or 5s lipo, according to what will suit my drivingstyle best. (read: how much power I can control  )

That should be a good setup. On 4s it should be plenty powerful yet controllable, 5s will be good for any application where you need some insane power, and 6s would be for when your tires are nearing the end of their life and you want to destroy them as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
