Hybrid cars gobbling up rare metals!

I wonder how much this will effect the price of our hobby.

Rare earth metals are not rare, they are actually quite plentiful.

emaxxnitro 09.12.2009 07:41 PM

thats just the mother nature lovers having to have something to complain about. what will please them... NOTHING
they are never happy. msnbc is one of the most left biased media networks. they have to scare people with something.

Yes, but the country with the most of them actually control what goes out. I contacted a few battery manufacturers that are working with what they claim are very high power batteries about making some for us RC guys and they actually tell me the RC industry has been using high power batteries way before the auto industry. I guess most of the players will be going to mainly supply the auto industry.

the prius is a POS anyways...

etc1006 09.12.2009 11:38 PM

All this crap about hybrids and the manufacturers don't know what they're gonna do with the batteries when they hit the end of their service life. Not like you can goto the Lowes or Home Depot and drop them in the box at the front door when they're dead...

J57ltr 09.12.2009 11:45 PM

Well I guess we'll have to start stealing hybrids for the battery packs:lol:

I wonder if when someone wants to trade in a used up prius for another car if there is going to be some outrageous charge for recycling the trade in.

J57ltr 09.13.2009 12:03 AM

You mean like the "recycling fee" when you buy tires or batteries?

That really gets me because there are quite a few companies out there that recycle tires into other products and they Pay for their raw materials. Same goes with batteries, that pisses me off.

Theres plenty of Lithium to go around, we just gotta dig/work for it. And tell the whining hippies to shove a pine cone up their asses.

Let's hope so... the price for buying an environmentally unfriendly vehicle.

sorry just the mention of prius pisses me off  their are tons of reason why they are junk. but my reason is that the people who drive them are seriously Finstupid  4 times in 1 month was my father's business partner in our napa store had his service station called to tow a prius because it "shut down" on them and wouldnt run over 35mph :oh: all 4 of these people ran the car out of gas and itll only run on battery up to 35mph :surprised: (btw AAA payed for all of these)

i guess im just a little anal today i guess, my toe hurts, races got cancelled, broke my msr, and its raining.....

btw sorry if you drive a prius i dont mean to offend you but its pretty much a fact that 9 out of 10 people who drive them are completely ignorant.
