buggy torque issue
i have a kyosho mp777, aveox motor ,mamba monster , 4s zippy lipos for my set and it is very powerful, and since this is my first buggy i dont know much about set up
when i gas the hell out of it it darts off to the left very hard and my tires on the left show more wear than the right, i had a on road car that would torque the same way , is it the motor like causing it to gyro in its direction |
nope, not the motor, poor setup
I'd check caster, camber and toe ins on all 4 corners. holding a ruler flat to the face of the tire gives you a good visual to approximate degrees. A decent spot to start is 1 degree camber on all 4 tires (tops point in to chassis) 1 degree toe out up front and 1 degree toe in out back and make sure caster is equal on both sides |
On a direct-drive setup with a centerdiff the torque-steer gets kinda canceled out by the weight of the diff spinning in the opposite direction.
If you have a large heavy rotor I can imagine you may feel a bit of torque twist/steer, but nothing like you described. On that note, I once had a setup with an idler between diff and motor (i.e. diff and motor spinning in the same direction) and the torque steer was noticeable on straight-line dragracing, or in mid-air. I guess your issue is indeed setup related. Check all the settings. A slightly bad bearing somewhere might cause the same issue, btw. Daf |
thanks i will check al 4 corners, got it from e-bay so you never know what someone else had it dialed in for
|
I don't know if this is related or even true ?
I've read on a couple forums where fellas were having torque steer problems and they turned the diffs over in the case and reversed the motor, viola' problem sloved. |
Yep, my Hyper 9e torqued to the right. Then I flipped the diffs and now it accelerates hard in a straight line.
|
well somebody let me borrow a set of foam tires and the car accelerated straight, i am thinking is was lack of traction from the tires on the left of the car, but further testing should be done, i will keep in mind reversing the diffs
