New toy! My E-flite Blade mSR!
Ok, few months ago my girlfriends mom got me a basic coaxial helicopter named "Firefly 2" which was a basic dual rotor helicopter with duel red LED's that looked like a bug. Needless to say, I had alot of fun with it in between playing with my Savage Flux. I eventually wanted to get something a bit more controllable and I was close to buyin an MCX a few months ago when other things came up and I never got around to it. Flash forward to this week, I stopped by my LHS and I happen to see the new MSR sitting on the desk and I couldn't believe all the extra goodies it came with, not to mention how farking fast it flew around the shop! Needless to say, I bought one!
The mSR unlike the MSX comes with a screaming deal in the RTF. The charger is AC ready outa the box and can charge 4 of the little batteries unlike the MSX which can only do 1 at a time and AC is sold separate. This being my first real helicopter, it's been a challenge to learn how to control this thing in my small apartment and has resulted in some nasty crashes. Still, I'm having lots of fun but i'm also getting alot of questions in my head in regards to operating/ maintaining something like this vs my monster truck. Here's a video of my attempting to fly it after only a day of practice since owning it. i have a BLAST with mine.... ive added a tiny bit of weight for better forward flight, and i finally broke a blade grip on mine the other day (flying tail down toilet bowls until i pulled out late and went sideways into the wall), wait till you move the links and get it in sport mode its a beast! and it actually flys really well out side, even with light wind....
and yes the charger is awesome ive got 3 batteries and can fly non stop. |
btw if your considering a larger heli they are much easier to control and they dont have the delay in movement this thing does... but they are not any where near as durable as these.
but they do require alot of time and must be precisely setup after every crash.... but generally youll likely be much more careful with a larger heli... they are fun and require alot of practice but always impressive! |

if your having trouble press the middle button on the radio so that it blinks continously and that turns down the expos and makes it a piece of cake to fly (i put it in this mode when i let my gf fly it)

Very cool! I have a mCX with that charger and 4 batteries, I've gone up to 2 hours at-a-time flying it but the Blade series micros are just too easy to fly (even the mSR, once you get used to it). I've tried my hand at larger helis and they are a handful compared to these little guys. Have you brought the heli to work yet? I love flying around behind people and freaking them out!

i had an mcx it was alot of fun

really? my blade 400 and now t-rex 450 are both much easier to fly than this little msr, its a handful and half, my biggest problem is the "lag" in direction changes, with my larger helis they go where pointed on command, the msr has a delay and i tend to hit crap because of it. You cant really compare a co-ax to a large heli, its not even close.
if you wanna have some fun get your msr flying forward perpindicular to a doorway to another run and practice banked turns through the doorway.... the faster you go the harder it gets, just make sure you stand somewhat near the doorway so you can see into the other room well enough to fly it once you make it thorugh the door. |
I have the mcx, and got the AC charger for it, so was a bit pissed when I saw the MSR come out, and include the AC charger.
I'm really on the fence of getting one, I flew the test model at the LHS, damn they're fast! My wife will kill me, though! Tony |
The MSR is a awesome heli !
HC has batterys for it for 1.79 each with 138mah. |
Flying it outside is so exhilerating compared to indoors! This thing is so lightweight that even if I smash into the grass full speed, it simply does a little bounce and its ready for more!
I can really stretch my legs and really push the limit of practicing with it without running into walls. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/outside6.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/outside1.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/outside2.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/outside4.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/outside5.jpg |
