HB Lightning Pro 2 Conversion
 

Hi you guys,
I am in the process of converting a HB Lightning Pro 2 to an electric BL.
Here is a pic of the center spur gear and the brakes. Do I need to keep the brake plates? Can I just take them off? I don't really know anything about 1/8th scale buggies. I have not taken the center diff apart yet but Mike is making me an adaptor to be able to use a plastic spur gear. If I take the brake plates off, I will also have more room for the motor mount. Thanks for any help/advice you guys can provide.

You can take them off, assuming you want to use the motor's brakes.

You need to contact mike, to get an adapter for a plastic spur. the metal spur will eat pinions.

here is my conversion of a HB lighting. what batteries are you going to use, and how much cells? the diff might be in the wrong place. (don't know what your plans are though)

Yep, that is my plan to use the motor's brakes.

I am going to use two 4s LiPo's. What do you mean that the diff might be in the wrong place? How else could it be mounted?
Your truck conversion looks great. It is just a lot different than the Lightning Pro 2 buggy in terms of chassis layout and such.

I made a plate of aluminum, that placed the diff a little more to the centre, the batteries didn't fit the way i use them. But perhaps your lipo cells are smaller.

do you have any pictures of progress so far (that one looks like its off the hb site)? also, you can go ahead and get rid of some extra weight by simply removing the brake disc and pads, ect.

I have the motor, pinion, UBEC but still waiting on the motor mount (from ColdFusion) and Mike is making the spur gear adapter for me. I ordered the 4s LiPo a few days ago. I just took off the the brakes (discs, pads, etc.) and that gave me a lot more room. It will be interesting to see how I can get the motor mount to fit. I will post more pics as I go along. I want to have the whole thing done in a couple of weeks.
