Best t8 motor for 4s?
Can tekin say what's the best performance x weight x runtime T8 motor to use with 4S batteries and a HB D8 buggy?
Tks! |
I don't think anybody can say this as a factual statement - it is a matter of opinion. "The best" for one user may not be for another. Some like aggressive power, while others need smoother delivery. The most ideal for one track, user or driver style may not be the best for another.
Personally, I like the 1900Kv buggy combo in a 1/8 buggy. It runs equally well on 4s or 5s, runs cool and is very responsive to timing changes. Is this "the best performance"? - for some folks maybe. :) |
Case in point; I like to bash more and want that instant diff-chewing power whenever I want.
Also, it might depend on which ESC you are running. From conversations with Mike, the Tekin motors like low rpms when running sensored. Just gear up (within limits) for speed. But, if running a sensorless, low motor rpms means even lower rpms on take-off and may cause cogging at startup. So, for pure sensorless ESCs (like the MMM), a higher kv ~2000-2200 might be better. |
Good to hear you guys. So itīs better to run sensored 1900kv and sensorless 2200kv?
|
No, 1900 for racing, 2200 for bashing. A 2650 is just right for bashing imo, whereas a 1900 is too slow for bashing. I like 6s when bashing with the 1900.

I like motors between 1700 and 2050 for Racing on 4s. It will depend on track, traction, and layout.

thanks for all the answers. What's the sweet RPM spot for t8 motors? I just got a 2650kv, and will be using 4S...
|
Regardless, your setup will be spinning it close to 40,000 RPM. Depending on how you look at it, the sweet spot could be 30,000 RPM or 45,000 RPM. Some say 30K because it would run the coolest, but the sweet spot could also be 45K because you have 50% more power available and maybe only 30% more heat.
