Charger?
Hi Guys,
Going to get the Hyperion 4S 6500mah pack to use in my 8T conversion, but I'm after a charger that will quickly but safely charge it up. Looking to take advantage of the 5C capability when charging this pack as much as possible to reduce charge time/ increase play time! Been looking, and the recommendations I've had are the two below: iCharger 208B 350W 8s Balance/Charger Hyperion EOS 0720i NET 3 DC Balance Charger Any advice guys on these 2 or indeed a bettter option? Thanks! |
I have the iCharger 106B+ and can vouch for it, very accurate balancer, tons of functions, neat logging software. Hyperion is a pretty popular brand, and I've never heard bad things about them, though I've never used one myself.
Won't be able to charge at 5C, but you should be able to charge at the 20A max the chargers allow providing your power supply is solid and capable. |
What power supply would you suggest for running it from the mains?
|
I'm using a River Gate 30amp PS with the Hyperion 720i. This is an amazing charger and will charge that Hyperion pack at up to 20amps. I have charged my Hyperion packs at 15amps so far and this charger hasn't broke a sweat yet. It works great.

Thaks guys, the iCharger 208b is a bit more powerful than the Hyperion 0720i, meaning that I might get a little closer to charging at 5C than the Hyperion charger can muster. They're almost the same on price too?
|
They both have a max charge rating of 20A so that's the most you'll get out of either charger.
|
I was told that because the wattage of the icharger is higher, then I'd get a faster charge from that one compared to the Hyperion 0720i?
|
Man, wish I could charge my Lipos past 1C, I only got a single AC charger as I didn't wanna deal with having a seperate DC PSU. I prefer conveinence
|
Sure, I guess maybe you could either spend your money on a few lipo packs and a slow charger, or less packs and a faster charger to get the same result in playtime?
|
the Icharger is more powerful because it has a 350 watt limit as apposed to the hyperion that has a 250w limit.
this means that the hyperion can only charge a 4s pack at 14.9 amps while the icharger can charge a 4s pack at the full 20 amps |
You do know that you have to have a hell of a power supply to charge a 4s 6500 at 5c, right? You're looking at 500 watts to charge a 4s 6500mah battery at 5c. If you were using split packs on 2 chargers, maybe. Why note get two batteries, and an icharger 106b?
