RC Bartering?
Ok, so while I was sittin on the crapper earlier, I read an article about how a bunch of little communities in California are doing a bartering network. They do work but they can use "barter bucks" for whatever they want. The bucks can be redeemed throughout the community.
I know how tight money can get. And I thought, with a little planning, maybe this can work. Well maybe we can set something like this up? I am only throwing the idea out there to get a response. I would rather not be flamed for this, because its just an idea. If you dont like it, put your big boy pants on and leave me alone. |
Can you explain more how this bartering system works?
If anything were to be setup it would most likely have to be outside of the forum. The buying/selling/trading here is supposed to be kept to a minimum. I don't see why anyone would flame you for asking about this bartering idea? |
i like the idea, but also am not too sure how it'd work...

barter
looks like is just trading, no selling or buying!

PedeBasher are you talking about setting up a local group in your area or creating a wider group with members from the forums here?
I can see the merits of a local group, but for people spread out all over the country (and international) I don't see any advantages over all the RC classifieds/trading sites that already exist. |
Well a more national group. Its hard to describe. But say you need a motor rewound and a guy needs his battery repaired. Well you two could do a bater like that. I would be similar to a trade just not much money involved (shipping).
I am also not to sure how it would work but I could see it happening. There would have to be a specific section (not saying it has to be on this site). The whole point would be to take money out of the equation as much as possible. And maybe if its a company you did work for (possibility) but your not too hot about their products or dont have anything that you can put on your truck, you can pass on what they offered you (say they offered you ($100 worth of parts for anything they sell). Well you can pass that on if you need something fixed or built or whatever. And tell the company (RCM for example) that you passed your barter money on to so-and-so. I hope that is clear enough for y'all. |
