What Eagletree system do I need??

I borrowed one and loved it, but didn't remember to look what it was. What do I need...I want to be able to move it to my truggy's and buggy for testing.

Do you need the base unit, or an attachment? The base model is the elogger. Optional parts depends on what you are trying to measure.

I need all of it I guess. I need to be able to log amp, current and batt voltage and temp.

Well, the base unit will monitor amperage and voltage. And to get temp, all you need is the temp probe (just a thermistor attached to a servo plug really).

These are what you need:

Ahh awesome......ordering now

You could probably find a better price if you look around. I just knew Tower had them so I could show you what you needed with pics.

If you are inclined you can make your own temp probe using a Rx harness cable and a 10K ohm NTC thermister. I ended up making 2 extra ones for about $2 buying the parts and the temps are within 1 degree of each other.

I did the same, except I happened to have a thermistor laying around. I know, I know; what kind of nerd has a thermistor just laying around right?

:whistle: I won't say a word. You should have seen my garage this weekend. I must have thrown away 10K resistors and several hundred caps, transformers, IC's and all kinds of crap, but I still have way too many of just about everything.

You should see the stock I still hold from a few of my clients .

I have a 10' X 20' storage that is full of car parts and electronics and car audio amps, Subs and a few component sets, wire, alarms, relays, and some of the speakers I built.

I still kept a lot of components don't get me wrong, but some of it was just too old and near the end I started chunking stuff I know I will regret. But there comes a point where you have so much crap that you end up buying the part because you can't find it but you know you have it, then you find it after you finished building whatever it is.

Sometimes obsolete components can fetch big money. I remember when a client was looking for a few hundred I.C. can't really remember the full part number, but it started with a LM and it was from ST Micro. Well I had 10K pieces that I bought for $0.01 each, but sold them all for $1.25 each lol and I wish I had more. Alstom and Bombardier for example is always looking for obsolete components. I had a big warehouse in Florida, but sold it when I decided to move to New Jersey due to my daughter's school. I did throw a lot of stuff out, mostly cheap resistors, but kept the more expensive components like some Xilinx parts that are close to $3K each. The good thing about my job is that I don't have to keep any stock anymore and have my suppliers drop ship everything. Right now is awesome as most makers of electronic components have some long lead times for the not so popular items.

I know that's right. We had a sitsuation a few years ago and were looking for some obsolete componets and ran across a few companies that we got them from and they were about twice what we had paid before. I hate how a lot of these manufacturers make a part and we incorporate it into something and within a year it's obsolete or you can only get it in a SMT. I remember one component that we bought little SMT to through hole adapters to hold us through until the revision could be made on the board. It was like a digital pot I think the DS1267 or something llike that. That was a pain most of our stuff now is SMT but even some of those componets do the same thing. We have 1 card that is on it's A rev. and another that's going on it's F rev. simply because of component obsolenance. I am glad I don't really have to deal with it except for repairs sometimes, and UL. Don't even get me started on UL.
