36120 maxx rpm.....how do you know???
I just received my 36120 in the mail and noticed in the description "42000 maxx rpm",well how do you when you've reached this limit? I assume the number or cells and gearing will determine how fast you reach this point but is there a way of knowing before you do damage to the ESC? Thanks
|
The simple way is to calculate the voltage and the motor Kv and add a saftety margin(motor will spin faster when not loaded). I use 38000 rpm as a "target" for motor/voltage selction. Hope this helps. :)

If the figure you get is under the 42000 you should be good. Depends on the kv rating and cells.
What kind of setup you going to run or is it top secert? |
You don't want a big motor to turn too fast either. (assuming, that you are going to use one big badass motor..)

36 cells is an aweful lot of voltage. Must be a motor the size of a coke can.......
|
2250 or 2240 can do the job 'already'

a motor not under load should hit about 41100 rpm. I think you be safe while running. On 8s lipo any way.

Does the 3695 have a 42000 rpm limit like the 36120? will the first handle a 1950/10 at 24volts using 34/51 pinion and spur in a heavy truck?
|
3695 hasn't got this limit.
Only goes for the 36120 and 150A |
What about the other question,pal?
|
Should do, i would consider taking a smaller pinion though.. 34 is a bit on the large side It will take WAY more amps than the 95A controller is capable of, so, run a higher voltage, with a lower KV motor or take another controller.
Does it use UE diffs or normal diffs? Here check this calculator. i guess you know what to do with it. You need to put *1.75 behind the value of the 'gearing ratio' if it runs 2nd gear. |

Mike told me that he can hook me up with a 36 teeth pinion using the setup I mentioned above with the exception of the 3695 ( I'll be using the 9918 for the meantime).
