Ofna LX-1e on stock in shops - Who's gonna buy it?
Nitrohouse.com and towerhobbies.com got the LX-1e in stock since yesterday. I'm planning to buy it in December, but first I would like to here some opinions/reviews. What do you guys think about this car? Is it a good car to race with? Or more a "fun on the track" buggy? And is there already someone who bought it and planning to write a review? Would like to read that.
I'm thinking about a special set-up, probably one that no one got in a 1/8 buggy. Motor: Plettenberg Maxximum "mit gebläse" - 3000kv (Yes, I know it got a high kv, but my Bigmaxx in my LST stays freaking cool, so the Maxximum will be a good motor also I think.) ESC: Still not sure, maybe a Quark Monster Pro 125B, a Tekin RX8 or I might try a MGM ESC. LiPo: Hyperion 6500mAh 3S 35C/65C for a good runtime. I think most people won't like my setup, but I think the Maxximum will still cool (if geared correctly, I plan on racing the car, not bashing, so I won't need high topspeed, and most tracks here in the Netherlands are small lol), the LiPo will stay cool too (220A continious or something, that should be MORE than enough), and I'm a bit worried about the ESC, so I might buy a MGM ESC which is rated for 160A continious, 6S LiPo and solder a UBEC on it. But my main question is; is this car good for racing? And is someone going to buy it (or already bought it) and wants to share his experience with it? - Patrick |
my friend had a converted ultra, raced all season with it. bought an RC8 for the last race of the year and his lap times dropped by 4sec, without tweeking the setup

But I still prefer a review/post/whatever from someone with exactly this car. So, who's going to help me out? |
i've heard the lx 1 has diff issues and the rear chassis brace sucks. the only one i've seen in person was nitro and the chassis would bend every time it was jumped more than 10 feet. that chassis had to be straighted at least 10 times.

the lx-1 is more of a beginners buggy, that being said, i think you can win with anything if you drive it enuff. with brushless as it is now power is almost unlimited in terms of what you can use on a track and the biggest enemy of conversions is weight so if you really want a track monster you should be looking at how much it weighs

Hmm... looks like the LX-1 is not that good.
But as I said before, I would like to see the opinion of someone with the E version. |
if your looking for somehting cheap then get a used buggy or a hotbodies.....

Love Mine, even as a basher. $95 after selling the KHZ nitro engine mounts. With some other goodies... BUT my brother just got an old LX for cheap and I am anxious to see a review of the E-version... Alot of the parts seem cross compatible... |
i buy the lx-1e version but didin´t received yet.
i will use novak h.v 55 motor at 3s with hobbywing esc. next week maybe i can say how it handles. as i read before i buy it the e version have a redesign chassis and hard gear diffs so it as been upgraded for brushless i think. regards |
I had a convert one of these(you may remember a thread asking where to find a motor mount). It ran like a champ for me. I really really liked it. As stated above not a bread racer but if set up right it can up down some good lap times. Its also really durable. I don't remember breaking one part on it in the 2 years of running it(though the body is thin and breaks easily).

i already had a small asphalt test with mine at 4s2p a123 with my novak hv 5.5 and hb 80amps esc and top speed is huge.great torque either.
had a blast driving it and seems well built. i was really happy with battery tray size since i could get my 2s2p a123 packs in it. when possible i will test it on track and post review. now i am refilling diff´s since they come with grease from factory. |
