Anyone else tried the new LRP Vortex 8?

I bought one of these motors to replace my broken Mesusa motor but im not realy that impressed... It seems to cog real bad on pull aways and has less top speed than my 2000 kv medusa even though its 2500.. Anyone else have any simar experiences.. Wish I bought the tekin now:neutral:

LRP 1/8 stuff = 1/10 stuff with a 1/8 badge.

Also likely to be 2 pole instead of the 4 poles the Medusa had, hence the lack of power to pull the same gearing > lower speed.

If you need sensored, go Tekin, if not, go Castle/Neu/etc...

I have one motor on preorder to run in a big pan car. I have read that other users are also dissapointed with the system. I didn't bother ordering the useless LRP esc, as the tekin is better canidate for the motor.

Yeah think your right there, have my first 1/8th race the 22nd so will see how it goes.. Think I may get the Castle motor TBH as you never hear nothing but praise about them. Do they cog much? Thats one thing i do like about the tekin they are super smooth even when run non sensored.

Never seen many complaints about cogging, only under extreme circumstances really- the latest software/firmware is smooth as silk apparently.

trouble is Neil im running it with the MMM so unsensored which it doesnt seem to like much at all :(

Marvin 11.11.2009 01:36 PM

No, as in the MMM is smooth as silk on the latest updates.

I'd get the Tekin T8 if 2200kV or 2650kV don't suit you properly. Otherwise, I'd just go with the MMM motors.

Should have read my guide - I've had the LRP stuff in there a while now. Ever since reading the first reports on it.

Link to guide, for lambchops sake?

Ah, he knows it!

If anyone else wants to read it then:

Guide

I hope I won't be killed for any errors in it. It's just a rough guide for people (some of whom are simply quite clueless) to get them started in 1/8 brushless.
